Hi guys! Today I’m finally all caught up on my episodes and I’m ready to review the new ones! I’m really glad that in this week’s episode of Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou, Seira and Akari have finally worked out their differences. After all, it’s not good for team and character conflict becomes dull and dredging after a while when the story proceeds yet it remains unresolved.
Rating: 4/5 happy clouds
I’ve been curious for Seira’s story for a while and some of my friends have been ranting to me about how cold-hearted is being with Akari and the Daemonia. But now that we’ve heard Seira’s side of the story, her hate for the Daemonia is justified. I mean, she herself witnessed the death of her best friend Manami. She was a kid and it was a long time ago but that kind of thing scars you for life and Seira probably regrets her hesitation to fight in her past which is why she’s so hard on Akari when Akari first joins the team.
What I’m noticing about this series so far is that the black and white between demons and magic girls are being blurred. The Daemonia are demons, but they are also human in a sense; Akari’s power to be able to hear their voices seems to be getting more prominent the more she uses it. I was really surprised by Akari’s words during the final battle between the girls and Seira’s friend Hanae who had sold her soul to the Daemonia in exchange for a cure for her best friend Minori who was hospitalized for heart problems.
“We have to take responsibility for hearing their voices. Not being able to exterminate it just because you heard its voice just means you lack resolve.”– Akari
It’s nice to see a part of the girls’ lives where they actually interact with people in the real world rather than holing up in Sephiro Fiore waiting for one battle after the next. In the end, I’m glad that Hanae’s wish was granted and Minori was ultimately saved.
Since the first few episodes resolved many of the personal issues between the characters, I have a feeling that the ultimate climactic reveal will be a crazy twist in the plot. The story is very plot-driven though I think the biggest twist they could do is to make one of the Elemental tarot magic girls turn into a Daemonia at the end and become one of the strongest Daemonia. That’s what I’d do if I was writing the story.
Anyway, I hope you guys are enjoying the summer season. Thank you all so much for reading and this week’s new reviews will be up as soon as possible!
