Cloudy’s Fall Anime Season Samples 2013

Hey guys! I hope you guys are all doing well. I cant believe it’s already September  the summer goes by WAY too fast! I’m so, so, so excited to introduce my picks for the Fall-lineup of anime this season. Since I followed quite a few series during the summer season, I’m going to tone it down to two or three animes depending on how intrigued I get after the first two-three episodes. If there’s an anime you really want me to review that’s either on or not on this list, please leave me a comment and I will look into it!

I haven’t seen Kuroko no Basket but I know that they’re making a second season of it as well as another season for Infinite Stratos,  Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, White Album, and Valvrave. My taste usually falls under genres of romance, fantasy, comedy, supernatural, drama (and occasionally) slice-of-life.

Now, for the new stuff…

BlazBlue (1)BlazBlue Alter Memory

Release Date: October 1, 2013

The story begins December of the year 2199. Everyone’s eagerly anticipating the start of the new yaer and rumour has it that Ragna the Bloodedge, an SS-class rebel has appeared in the 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsushi. Ragna is also known as the Grim Reaper wants to destroy the system that’s controlling the world. In order to capture Ragna, a group of skilled and strange fighters gather in Kagutsushi.

The art. The art looks fantastic! Vibrant, crisp and clean-cut. Since the anime is originally based on a fighting game, I can’t wait to see how the fighting choreography is done in conjunction with the animation. I would place this anime under a definite fantasy genre.

Galilei DonnaGailei Donna

Release Date: October 3, 2013

I haven’t heard much about the series yet. The story stars three girls descended from the famous Italian astronomer Galileo and who are on the international wanted list. What originally captured my attention was the promotional video that was released. There wasn’t much of a plot to the video and it didn’t seem like much of a trailer but the animation looks really nice and I love the instrumental though I’m not a super big fan of sci-fi animes.

Golden TimeGolden Time

Release Date: October 3, 2013

Another anime based on a light novel originally writte by Yuyuko Takemiya and illustrated by Eji Komatsu. There are nine volumes in total and the story falls under romance, seinen, drama, comedy and a little supernatural. Our protagonist is Tada Banri, a new law student who lost all his memories in a recent incident shortly after his high school graduation. Later, he meets another freshman named Mitsuo Yanagisawa and then he runs into a beautiful girl holding a bouquet of roses who whacks him in the face and runs off. The girl is Koka Kaga, his childhood friend who he promised to marry as kids.

Okay, so the premise of the plot sounds a little bit out there. I’m not sure what to expect from what I’ve heard so far.

Kyoukai no KanataKyoukai no Kanata

Release Date: October 2, 2013

Also called Beyond the Boundary and again based on a Japanese light novel series by Nagomu Torri with illustrations by Chise Kamoi. It follows a boy named Akihito Kanbara who is in her second year in high school. The boy is half yomu and has swift healing abilities making him invulnerable to injuries. When Akihito meets Mirai Kuriyama, a girl who has the strange ability to manipulate blood, who’s about to commit suicide off the school rooftop, dark things start to happen…

Since Kyoto Animation is producing the anime, I’m excited to see how the art direction goes. I’m a little scared of the plot because dark supernatural fantasy isn’t usually in my range of preferred genres but since I love anything made by Kyoto Animation, I’m willing to give this one a try.

Ore_no_Nōnai_light_novel_volume_1_coverOre no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Love Come o Zenryoku de Jama Shiteiru

Release Date: October 2, 2013

If there was ever an unmemorizable anime title name, it would be this one! The abbreviated name is Noucome… Translation: My Mental Multiple-Choice Power Is Completely Ruining My School Romantic Comedy (LOL) Okay, the hilarious whacky long name itself gets me interested in the show already. It’s about a boy who has “multiple choice power.” Whenever he’s presented with a multiple choice question, his answer becomes reality. Something crazy’s bound to happen… especially when his choice results in the appearance of a blonde girl named Chocolat…

Strike-the-BloodStrike the Blood

Release Date: October 4, 2013

The Fourth Primogenitor is the world’s strongest vampire and spreads disasters all over the world. In order to eradicate this vampire, the government Lion organization decides to dispatch an attack mage called the Sword Shamen. The one who ends up being chosen is actually an apprentice “sword shamen” named Yukina Himeragi. The series is based on a Japanese light novel series by Gakuto Mikumo with illustrations by Manyako and it falls under the category of fantasy, supernatural and action. Depending on what they do with the series after the premise will determine the final ratings of the show. So far, I’m intrigued.

Adapted from a light novel, the story is originally by Kohei Azano and illustrated by Sumihei. The hero is Harutora Tsuchimikado who comes from a prestigious (as if you couldn’t tell from the super long name) Onmyoji family who are masters of yin and yang but he himself is unable to see any spiritual energy. One day his childhood friend Natsume Tsuchimikado, heir to the head family appears before him. Epic promotional video! I’d classify it under fantasy and I’m super excited for it.
