Fate Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya Episode 8 Review

I wouldn’t exactly call this episode a filler, but our magic girl card collecting story has definitely been placed on hiatus for the time being because of a major slight disagreement between our heroines.

Oh gosh, I really don’t want to rate this episode so low because I really love the series but this episode was just. So. Dull. First of all, it definitely delivers what it’s titled. Called “I’ll be a Normal Girl Again,” the episode bounces back and forth between the supporting characters, from Illya and Miyu’s classmates, to interactions between Sella and Illya’s sister. We even get a few more glimpses of Shirou. Mostly, everyone’s worrying about Illya.

Two thirds into the episode, Illya present her “resignation letter” to Rin and decides to opt out of the magic girl gig… To be honest, it’s probably what any of us would do in her shoes. Sure, the pretty uniform and the super powers are a lot of fun, but it’s pretty dangerous once you stop and think about it.

Well, looks like Ruby’s not ready to give up on choosing her own master LOL She’s definitely a wand with an attitude XD

“Forget about everything that’s happened. For a normal person, nothing good comes from knowing things about the world of magic.” – Rin

Miyu seems totally fine with collecting the last card on her own. Seems like Ruby still believes in Illya as her master and it’s pretty sweet. “Without you, I can’t even fire a single mana blast. You and I are one and the same and our fates are intertwined.”

Probably the most thought-provoking saving grace moment of this episode lies in Sapphire’s flashback of her meeting with Miyu way back and the transfer of the contract from Luvia to Miyu. Was Miyu just a runaway orphan that accidentally bumped into Sapphire? I wonder if we’ll get some semblance of a back story for her character.

What’s more interesting is in the previews where we get scenes of the last card – Berserker… as well as Illya’s mother, Irisviel. I’m so looking forward to next week’s episode. Nothing more to say till then.
