D-Frag! Episode 1 First Impressions

D-Frag! Episode 1 (11)So. Much. Randomness… which makes it kinda hilarious haha. There’s not really any plot other than high school, comedic, slapstick over exaggerated teenage incidents. Kazuma Kenji and his group of delinquents have just arrived at this new school when Kenji meets a rather strange club… the Game Creation Club, to be exact, in which the girls are a little… weird, to say the least.

D-Frag! Episode 1 (1)One afternoon as Kenji is walking down the school hallway with his two delinquent friends, they see smoke sifting out of the doorway of a clubroom so he rushes in, grabs a fire extinguisher to put it out. Turns out, the Game Creation Club was playing with fireworks… but they start chasing down Kenji as an intruder, claiming to be different elemental types (from a game obviously) and attack him with fire, water, lightning *cough* a tazer… and moe-ness. Since the girls actually need another member in order to keep their club up, they persuade Kenji to join through unorthodox but really persuasive ways.

Roka Shibasaki is the club president. Chitose Karasuyama, a second year who also happens to be the student body president and holds a rival with another of Kenji’s childhood friends who’s the Vice President. Sakura Mizukami, a really athletic first year and… a fifteen year old who’s actually the teacher. Minami Ohsawa (LOL they just had to put one of those in). I’m most amused by Roka right now, her strange tendencies in the club and the chibi cute expressions she makes throughout the episode.

D-Frag! Episode 1 (5)

After an ordeal involving a girl’s locker room and a flying locker… things end rather poorly for the males of the series (and I’m sure they’re to spiral downhill really quickly with this crazy club). CRAZY CATCHY ENDING SONG and really funny opening. There are some cute moment with Roka and Kenji which allude to the romance elements of this harem setup. The art is decent but my particularly super appealing to me so it’s more up to your personal preference in terms of the character designs and animation.

D-Frag! Episode 1 (29)

Anyway, hope you guys liked my thoughts on the first episode of D-Frag! It was definitely harder to structure my ideas because of how ridiculous the episode opens but it’s really telling us that as crazy as it starts out, it’ll probably get crazier. Give this one a try if you’re in for some laughs and stay tuned for more winter impressions coming soon!
