SO MUCH HAPPENED IN THIS EPISODE I CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO EXPRESSS MY EXCITED NESS. I MEAN, I SORT OF EXPECTED SATSUKI TO BETRAY HER MOTHER AT SOME TIME BUT I DIDN’T EXPECT IT TO TURN OUT LIKE THIS.
This entire episode speeds up the getting ready process of the sports and cultural festival to make way for the twist reveal at the end. Satsuki is preparing everything to welcome her mother into the stadium where the festival will take place. The place is even named after her!
On Ryuko’s side with Nudist Beach, with Mako and Senketsu’s encouraging, she decides to put him back on and fight together. Aikurou finally reveals to Ryuko that Tsumugu had a pretty dark scar from his encounter Life Fibers. Under Dr. Matoi, Tsumugu’s sister Kinue was his assistant and she died from a life fiber experiment. Her last words were to encourage the experiments to continue which prompted the completion of Senketsu. The reason that Senketsu can communicate with Ryuko is because her DNA is spliced into his Life Fibers.
Personally, I found Satsuki’s side of the story a lot more exciting in this episode. That quiet moment when she’s sipping tea and contemplating her accomplishments so far really gives her character that touch of vulnerability, making her a really great character thus far. She’s not just a crazy dictator who’s blinded by power, she has PURPOSE – RESOLVE!!
Even the No-Star masses are given permission into attend the ceremony to welcome Lady Ragyo into the festival. They’ve all been given Revocs ceremonial outfits that contain Life Fibers. While Ragyo’s purpose is to fulfill what she perceives as the destiny of humanity – the submission to life fibers, Satsuki literally stabs her in the back and throws her onto a wall. Blood rains. AND SATSUKI DECLARES REBELLION AGAINST RAGYO. REBELLION AGAINST LIFE FIBERS
“People do not live for the sake of clothing. I, Satsuki Kiryuuin am rising up to overthrow life fibers!” – Satsuki
Perhaps Satsuki is going to use Ryuko and Nudist Beach as part of her force to take down the Revocs Corporation… No that wouldn’t be right because Nonon destroyed the Nudist Beach forces after the Kansai Raid. Or was that perhaps part of the plan? Satsuki’s motives are still wholly unknown except for this twist reveal but she’s really awesome character in my opinion.
I CANNOT GET OVER HOW CRAZY RAGYO’S OUTFIT IS. WHOA. IS THE DESIGN BASED ON A CIRCUS CLOWN?!
I am so excited for the next episode. I mean, plot twists in Kill La Kill are always exciting because they leave you at the most horrific of cliff hangers and now that three sides have clearly emerged this changes the power dynamics of the story a bit… Can’t wait to see what happens next!
