Even though Yinuo avoided Zhang Xiao and Yin Zheng at the supermarket, they spot her at the cashier and thank her for helping them. When Yinuo leaves her card the cashier, Yin Zheng runs after her to return it. She asks when Yin Zheng and Zhang Xiao are leaving.
Si Han, in his car, calls Yinuo and asks where she is. He feeds her some false lines about being right and how he’ll give up his revenge. Si Han pulls up in his car and see Yinuo talking to Yin Zheng… NOT GOOD.
Yin Zheng calls Zhang Xiao, telling her he bumped into a “friend” and that he’ll catch up with her at home. Yinuo and Yin Zheng go to a café. Yinuo decides to talk to Yin Zheng… about Lan Lan. Yinuo tells him that Lan Lan is alive. Yin Zheng is curious as to where Lan Lan is. Yinuo tells Yin Zheng Lan Lan’s story. She says that Lan Lan, after deciding against suicide, creates a new life for herself. Yinuo finally comes clean about her identity. Yinuo and Lan Lan are two different people. Lan Lan is genuinely happy for Yin Zheng and Zhang Xiao. Lan Lan has always wanted her loved ones to find happiness. Yinuo says she is also very happy with Si Han.
Si Han takes a bunch of pictures of Yinuo and Yin Zheng at the café. Yin Zheng thanks her for her honesty and hopes that in the days where he’s not there for Lan Lan, that she’ll take care of herself. Yinuo nods and Yin Zheng’s regrets about Lan Lan finally come to a close.
Si Han is waiting for Zhang Xiao just as she arrives home. She thanks Si Han for his “kindness,” she’s glad that Yinuo is by his side. Si Han seems to genuinely try and make amends…
Back at the apartment, Yin Zheng gives Zhang Xiao the magnolia hairpin – well, he says he returns it to the rightful owner. Zhang Xiao tells him that Si Han has perhaps has really changed. Yin Zheng agrees with Zhang Xiao that he should meet up with his brother at least once…
Si Han continues to plot evilly at night. He ends up making some weird pink concoction in a needle…
Si Han is planning on meeting up with Zhang Xiao and Yin Zheng that night. HOLY CRAP HE’S SO EVIL HE PLANS TO POISON THEM!!
Yinuo hugs him from behind and says she can’t believe he’s seeing them tonight (us neither really).
Huang Li calls Zhang Xiao and wants her to meet up with him before she leaves. In all honestly, they’re planning a surprise goodbye party for her 😉 They knock on the door and Yinuo greets them. The four of them sit down for dinner. He hands Yin Zheng a glass. He almost forces them to drink. Yin Zheng drinks the first glass in honour of Princess, the second one in honour of their father. Si Han takes the poisonous wine bottle and pours some for Zhang Xiao, some for Yin Zheng and some for Yinuo.
Huang Li arrives at the restaurant. Huang Li plans to propose to Ling Dang and asks Zhang Xiao to go help him out. Si Han says that she’s allowed to go if she drinks her wine. Yin Zheng says he’ll drink it for her and Si Han says he’s just kidding. He states they’ll drink when she returns. SUSPICIOUS MUCH?!?!
Huang Li finally works up the guts to propose to Ling Dang.
Yin Zheng in the bathroom texts Zhang Xiao telling her to relax at the party. Naturally Zhang Xiao worries and rushes back. When she glimpses inside the room, she sees Yinuo and Yin Zheng passed out.
In the interrogation room, Si Han feeds some lies and some truths to the police officers. Zhang Xiao finds out about Yinuo’s identity as Lan Lan. Yin Zheng confesses to accidentally hurting Yinuo. Since he thought she was dead, he claims he decided to commit suicide. Si Han’s mental condition worsens. Zhang Xiao talks to him at the hospital. She tells him that she believes Yin Zheng is innocent and reminds him that love can overcome any and all pain and revenge.
Zhang Xiao (for some reason), has Yinuo’s phone and all the pictures Yinuo took were of her and Si Han even though he was totally oblivious to most of them. She took pictures of them every day. Finally, photographic evidence that SI Han can’t refute. Si Han is shocked by Yinuo’s love. Zhang Xiao says that love requires trust and that she trusts Yin Zheng.
We get a flashback back to that hotel room. Si Han is so delusional that he blames Yin Zheng for all his misfortunes in his life. Yin Zheng says that Yinuo and Zhang Xiao are innocent so if Si Han wants Yin Zheng’s life, he should let them go. Yin Zheng feels the force of the poison. Yin Zheng is shocked that he would do this. Si Han shoves Yinuo down onto glass.
Yinuo has a really big chance of losing the child’s life… unless a miracle happens.
Yinuo disappears from the hospital again… yeah, she has a habit of doing that. Well, this time it’s Si Han’s fault. He drives off and Zhang Xiao chases after him. Zhang Xiao gets a call from Siyu…
Si Han brings Yinuo to a harbour and attempts to commit double – no, triple suicide with Yinuo. Well, he doesn’t know it’s triple until Zhang Xiao finally tells him. Si Han is ready to jump over the edge but Yinuo stirs in his arms.
Yinuo needs a blood transfusions and because Zhang Xiao is her sister, she can give it to her. Although the proess will be taxing on Zhang Xiao, she’s willing to give as much as her sister needs.
Si Han in his sorry state is waiting for news of Yinuo. Siyu comes to the hospital. Zhang Xiao wakes up to see her sister awake too but Yinuo’s blood pressure is dropping rapidly. The doctors attempt to bring her back to life even as Zhang Xiao keeps calling her name but Yinuo is gone. Outside the hospital, Si Han mutters to himself that this is not the end he wanted. Zhang Xiao blatently tells him that Ma Yinuo is dead. Yin Zheng is in jail. Zhang Xiao asks if Si Han wants her pity? Forgiveness? Zhang Xiao asks why he isn’t the one dead instead? NOT GOOD because Si Han’s mental state worsens and he wanders out onto the street. He runs towards a car and actually commits suicide. WOW. OKAY. Si Han took the coward’s way out. Instead of facing his problems, he ran away. But to be honest, his story couldn’t finish any other way. It’s either death or prison for him…
Zhang Xiao says she’s going to marry Si Han to take care of him. AGAIN she blames herself because Si Han flung himself to his death after she basically told him to die. Zhang Xiao passes out after the two of them part to leave. Wait what? THAT WAS A DREAM? TALK ABOUT YOUR RANDOM FILLER SCENE!
The doctor tells her the baby is safe and her sister should be stable now. In another scene, Si Han is visiting Yinuo in the hospital and wraps prayer beads around her hand.
Siyu finds his brother at the hospital. FINALLY SI HAN COMES TO ACKNOWLEDGE HIS WRONGS. Again it takes another pregnant unconscious woman to make it happen. Si Han decides to turn himself in at the police station. Mrs. Kang and Siyu go pick up Yin Zheng at the police station.
Yin Zheng immediately wants to see Zhang Xiao but because Zhang Xiao has been giving so much blood to Yinuo, she’s currently in a coma in hospital. OH WHY. I CANT BELIEVE THEY DID THIS. They did all the stupid drama clichéd things. Yin Zheng runs to the hospital to see Zhang Xiao and cries by her bed side. Yinuo is awake and in a wheelchair. As they talk… some random dude walks in, it’s not Si Han, but Lan Lan’s former flame, the one who use to follow Uncle Yin around.
When Si Han gets out of prison, Yinuo greets him with her baby in her arms. Zhang Xiao continues to sleep at the hospital. When Yin Zheng gets up to leave, we get the idea hinted that he’s blind (cause of the powder that the random dude through at them). Yin Zheng blindly leaves the hospital. Si Han finally apologizes to Zhang Xiao. On the day that Zhang Xiao is discharged from the hospital.
Siyu finds his brother outside the hospital.
Yinuo explains Yin Zheng’s condition to Zhang Xiao. Zhang Xiao calls him and she hears the ambulance siren over the phone… Zhang Xiao runs out the hospital looking for Yin Zheng. Yin Zheng begs Siyu to stop Zhang Xiao because he doesn’t want Zhang Xiao to see him in such a state. Poor Siyu, forced to lie to everyone for the sake of others. Si Han is almost moved to tears by Zhang Xiao as well… she gets an audio message from Yin Zheng and runs after him.
Yin Zheng is sitting by the fountain where he first tried to find the magnolia earring for her. Zhang Xiao finds him and slowly walks towards him. They shouldn’t have made him blind. That was so unnecessary to the story. Zhang Xiao tells him she’ll always go find him, always come for him no matter what. Zhang Xiao says the same words Yin Zheng once told her, “Without my permission, you are not allowed to leave me.” AND THEN ZHANG XIAO FINALLY SAYS THE TAG LINE FROM THE POSTER YAY!!!!!! They hug and Yin Zheng says he won’t leave anymore, because he has nowhere to go. They… finally end up together. What? Was that also a dream? YES. WHAT THE HECK?
Flashback back to where Zhang Xiao wakes up from the hospital for real… FOR REAL THIS TIME EVERYONE. Zhang Xiao goes back to the museum where she first met Yin Zheng and here, they are both healthy and okay. An entire crowd comes out to greet them… I don’t know why there needs to be a crowd but Yin Zheng and Zhang Xiao kiss in the museum and then we get a multitude of flashbacks for the main couple.
ANDDD we are finally finished with Bu Bu Jing Qing. The sequel series honestly started out fine but as it went on, literally right after the stuff with Princess, none of it made sense after cause the kidnapping screwed up the plot and made Si Han totally insane. And then everyone either got gravely injured or killed. And then Si Han became normal again cause his wife was gonna have a baby. Honestly, this man’s mental condition depends on his offspring.
The only character I liked from start to finish was Kang Siyu because he was an honest to goodness sweetheart and not once did the morbid events around him affect his attitude towards life. Zhang Xiao cries literally in every episode. No literally. EVERY episode. Si Han was one of my favourites too… until he went batshit crazy and wanted to kill everyone. And NO ONE brought up the fact that he just MIGHT need a psychologist because of the effects that the kidnapping and torture had on his psyche.
The last episode showing all the bad ends before the good ends was unnecessary filler just to stir up some fees in the audience and the ACTUAL ending wasn’t even that dramatic or heart-wrenching as a result. All the climactic build up died down cause the fake end was so much more tragic than a happy ending. This is exactly the type of drama series that turns people OFF dramas because of such a train wreck it turned out to be at the end.
Remember that long awaited red and blue umbrella scene we got in the promos and the mvs? TOTAL WASTE cause it WASN’T EVEN REAL in the end.
How is Bu Bu Jing Qing even connected to Bu Bu Jing Xin in any way? Answer: It’s not. It’s the producers trying to squeeze more money out of the popularity of the shows and franchise. Zhang Xiao isn’t even as cunning or quick-witter in the sequel, she’s just really REALLY emotional. From how they changed the characters, the most interesting one has to be Lan Lan/Ma Yinuo because she is a character that actually undergoes a lot of transitions and comes out on top. Yin Zheng’s character ambitions were based on a horribly crafted misunderstanding (by the writers) which doesn’t garner sympathy AT ALL from the viewers. It’s easier to forgive Si Han because he actually went through PHYSICAL PAIN and came out twisted. The random pairings with Jack X the co-worker girl and Huang Li X Ling Dang weren’t given enough time to develop but the show pulled one of those “everyone gets a happy ending” ploy.
Honestly I really wish they did a cheesy flashing forward ten years thing and showed each couple’s future happy life because they made such an effort to pair EVERYONE up. Seriously, they paired up all the side characters but SIYU ENDS UP WITH NO ONE!?!? WAY TO PUT IN SOME EFFORT. Also, Si Han and Yinuo are not even IN the last scene at the museum. The museum started out as a really key place for the main relationship and Zhang Xiao’s character especially. Somewhere down the line of twin sisters, crazy boyfriends, family drama and shady kidnappings, the entire Bu Bu Jing Xin back story is lost here. It’s like the entire previous story was wrapped up in the first three episode when Zhang Xiao cries buckets and buckets. The Bu Bu Jing Xin references were totally lost on the so-called “sequel” and when they inserted them they were okay at best (magnolia and ring references) and super awkward at worst. (Princess’s death, Yin Zheng “usurpsing” the throne – or in this case the company and the brotherly spats).
If Bu Bu Jing Qing has taught me anything, it has reinforced to me the notion that sequels are almost always inadequate or totally horrible. I should have stopped when Yin Zheng got together with Lan Lan and Si Han and Zhang Xiao had their Disneyland happy ending. Much more satisfying. They totally ruined Si Han’s good guy character. When the synopsis said he’d come back ruthless and power hungry, they were understating the main point that he comes back as a crazy revenge hungry sadist.
I don’t have much more to say on the series other than I’m curious on your thoughts. If you’ve finished the series and you’ve got a beef to pick like I do or you feel like rage-quit ranting… or maybe you loved it, leave your thoughts below because I really want to know what you guys think.
Thanks for following me and my series recaps!
