Haha it took me like three tries to finish this episode because I’ve been watching it in and out of birthday festivities but this episode was REALLY GOOD. Sebastian and Ciel both continue their investigations but because the Reaper is around there are… complications. Aside from the all this, the little lord is not doing well in these chilly and harsh conditions.
The bulk of Ciel and Sebastian’s investigations take place in this episode with tent-snooping and snake-tying and document-reading… Ciel finds out that all the circus troops are from the same house and they somehow have a document on him but because Snake’s pet snakes are pretty snoopy themselves, the circus troops begin to suspect that Smile and Black are from Scotland Yard AKA the police. The signet ring in one of the pictures matches the symbol on Beast’s prosthetic leg that Sebastian curiously investigated in early episodes. I actually kind of wish they showed a moment in the storage chest where both Sebastian and Ciel were cramped inside as to avoid being discovered by Beast hahaha. I can see that inspiring some awkwardly positioned doujinshi.
We witness just how lethal it can be for Ciel if he gives a wrong order to Sebastian. Because of Ciel’s order Sebastian ends up releasing the snakes in a timeframe where Ciel is still snooping and he almost gets bitten. Ciel later finds out that his fun roommate Freckles is actually Doll. Man, Ciel is too cute when he smiles, he can just easily trick people into trusting and believing him because of his big blue eyes. Ciel later ends up sick and lapses into asthma again so I guess Sebastian’s little trick to taunt his lord’s orders back-fired on him. The slight extra additional stress has made him bedridden. Sebastian’s probably thinking to himself, “OH CRAP. MY FOOD IS DYING…” well that might be a good thing haha but Sebastian’s still bound by his contract and oaths to keep Ciel’s best interests in mind.
The circus troops get freaky when they meet up in their dark and private tents to discuss… murder. Seems like the other members really don’t like Doll because she’s too trusting. Luckily in the previews we do see Ciel and Sebastian return to the mansion even though Soma doesn’t look too pleased. I love the rare times where Ciel lets Sebastian carry him like a baby >v<”
I still think Ciel’s pretty impressive for giving orders to Sebastian to continue with the investigating despite his state. I guess he can rest easy once his demon minion has been sent off. Sebastian is confronted by Will and I think we can really expect a great Demon X Reaper fight coming up again!! I guess because the circus arc requires a lot of stealth in the investigation process so we haven’t gotten to see Sebastian in all his bad-ass fighting and we haven’t had a chance to witness just how the animation action choreography will go.
I don’t know how well the screenwriter examined the manga or if it was the original mangaka’s story that makes for such great pacing because there has been absolutely no wasted moment in every episode of Book of Circus thus far. No filler dialogue and no unnecessary scenes. (And I guess Ciel isn’t the type to waste time either)
I can never get over how visually symbolic the end credits of the series are… and how much are you guys enjoying the “Yes, my Lord” in every episode? It never gets old with Daisuke Ono omg.
What are you pondering today?
