Dayum, the ending of this episode was just too awesome. Unlimited Blade Works is so much more complex than the first route and the only thing I really hated about this episode was that WE’RE NOT GETTING MORE TILL SPRING. AHHHHHCKKKKKKKK *FLIPS ALL THE TABLES*
I actually didn’t mind the little anime original scenes that they put in there to be honest and I’m definitely grateful of the series going for an almost 50-minute long final episode. There is SO MUCH material to pack into the anime adaptation.
Most of the first part of episode 12 builds a bit of Rin and Shirou’s relationship with a handful of lighthearted Saber scenes in the mix of the date activities. The episode really takes its time with the every day scenes but it was a really treat for fans of Rin and Shiro. Saber has a pretty good ability of staying completely obscure in the “date” setting LOL she’s definitely more focused on the food XDDD
The Fuyuki Bridge is always getting f***ked up somehow within the Holy Grail War. The 3D animation was actually pretty impressive overall when Shirou, Rin and Saber got locked into Caster’s bounded field.
Seems like a low blow for Caster to take a hostage even though she plays it off with her own reasons. Rin finds out about Shiro’s past as a victim of the Grail, Shiro blunders and Saber gets stabbed by Rule Breaker. POOR SABER OMG. Shiro this was your fault, you made her stop in the middle of battle =.=” Though, great acting on Ayako Kawasumi’s part and the animation really got me when Saber looked back at Shiro in tears, really broke my heart.
Loved Archer’s movements when he dove into the bounded field, arrows ablaze.
Assassin’s banter with Caster was also an amusing conversation. It’s a shame he only mainly guards the shrine, he’s a charming character to have in dialogue. BUT THEN CASTER FRIGGIN YANKED HIS RIBS OUT GEEZ… I almost want to b***h slap that woman =.= I was really torn between Kirei and Caster when Caster arrived at the church. Who do you cheer for when both are despicable in their own ways?
After Shiro wakes up at the Tohsaka Residence, he goes ON FOOT to look for Rin because of his promise to fight alongside her. He finds her on a roof and Rin tells him to stay out of the Grail War because he is literally powerless. Rin’s mage visage re-emerges colder than ever and she’s forced to cast Shiro aside.
Favourite moment: RIN’S JUMP OFF THE TOP OF THE BUILDING. DAT DISILLUSION REMIX OHMIGOSH. SO MANY FEELS AND FANGIRL-FEELS.
ARCHER IF I JUMP OFF A BUILDING WILL YOU CATCH ME TOO!??? WHEEEEE *splat*
I expected the credits to roll after Archer and Rin’s scenes but I really liked how the camera panned into each of the Masters and Servants of the Grail. The rules have seriously changed now and the power relationships are out of balance. It’s a standstill, and yet it isn’t, all the pieces on the board have shifted. Shiro in particular is in a strange position. Having lost his Servant, how will he re-integrate himself into the dynamics of the war? It seems like a great way for the first season to end but it’s also the worst way for the first season to end cause the cliff-hanger is so bad I want to stab myself with Rule Breaker. Well okay, I do know what’ll happen but I want to see it AIRED. ARGHHH. I expected the series to go for twenty-four episodes instead of twelve and another twelve spaced out NOT IN THE NEXT SEASON BUT THE ONE AFTER THAT. Seriously producers. Way to keep us hooked.
The previews though were stunning selections to air. We got awesome scenes of Gilgamesh, Illya von Einzbern, Archer and Lancer and archer on his own. AHHHH I CAN’T WAIT!!!! Illya and Berserker’s scene man…
What are you pondering today?
