IF EVER THERE WAS A SHOW THAT DOESN’T TAKE ITSELF SERIOUSLY, IT COULD BE BINAN KOUKOU CHIKYUU BOUEI-BU LOVE. SERIOUSLY I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SHOW.
Rating: 3.7/5 can’t stop laughing happy clouds
The show follows four high school boys who happen to be part of an Earth Defense Club, an astronomy-like club that basically gives the friends a place to chill. The fifth member of the magic boy team ends up being a super excited kouhai who just HAPPENS to LOVEEEE Wombats. And it just so happens that the pink creature that appears (out of nowhere) to enlist the boys into magic superhero duty happens to be a wombat. Wombat-san is actually SO CUTE LOL I want one as a pet ahahahaha.
The first episode hits all the stereotypical tropes and archetpes that you’d usually expect in a magic girl genre and it does it so accurately to the tee that it parodies the actual genre itself. I wonder how the producing animation team and voice actors got through the production process without dying of laughter miday cause this show is just HILARIOUS.
The main issue of conflict is between those who have love and those who are “loveless” who sink deeper and deeper into despair until they care nothing more about love. It’s up to the “Battle Lovers” magic boys in order to bring love back to the loveless and SAVE THE WORLD. I’m sure the pink Wombat is a very significant part of all this. After all, he gives our boys the magic love bracelets… the LOVECELETS.
My current favourite magic boy is definitely a tie between En Yufuin (the blue one AKA Battle Lover Cerulean) and Ryuu Zaou (the pink one AKA Battle Lover Vesta).
THOSE MAGIC BOY TRANSFORMATIONS. SO MANY SPARKLES. SO MUCH LOVE *dies from all the love* That love stick weapon though… I can see so many yaoi jokes made from the reference. I really hope they throw some boys love elements into the series, if it wasn’t cutesy enough already. I’d be really okay with this series turning into a yaoi LOLLLL
Phew, so much laughing and screaming and fangirling from me. This show is definitely a treat both for the fangirls who love sparkly bishounen and the magic girl genre fans who are looking for some top notch parody comedy. I’m excited for this show not only because I think the cute guys are vastly amusing, but also because I like seeing a show that really knows how to laugh at itself and laugh at the genre. This show is immensely fun and entertaining, a great way to de-stress from literally anything and I feel like part of the reason I’m going to stick with it is just to see how absolutely ridiculous and how far the writers will take this magic boy concept LOL
FEEL THE POWER OF LOVE EVERYONE!!!
