ONE OF THE BEST NEW GIRLS APPEAR OMG. But seriously what is with this show and random female assassins.
Paula McCoy makes her grand appearance in this episode by launching an attack on Tsugumi. When the battle ends with a huge Raku interruption, Raku and Paula are both invited to Tsugumi’s apartment. Paul seems sorely disappointed that her huge hitwoman role model has been utterly domesticated but OMG Paula’s reactions are just TOO TOO CUTE AHHH. We also get a bit more of Tsugumi’s background as “Black Tiger” in the American underground mafia scene.
As Rakus a big cook himself, he gets way too impressed with Tsugumi’s culinary talent. When Paul watches Tsugumi’s over-exaggerated reactions around Raku, she challenges Tsugumi to a battle. If Paul loses, she’ll have to leave, if Paula wins, Tsugumi has to go back with her to the States. The challenge is WHOEVER STEALS A KISS FROM RAKU FIRST AHAHAHAH Paula claims that this is “leading a man astray” in their hitman line of work. Even the fact that Raku is Chitoge’s “boyfriend” doesn’t help.
Actually, maybe Raku has the worst end of the stick here… but then again, he gets to kiss a cute girl either way soooo maybe he doesn’t have it that bad. Props to the original mangaka for giving Raku such heartfelt and sensitive dialogue. He really cherishes first kisses and feels that others should do the same with this special moment. Awwwwww
The true Black Tiger emerges when she has an utter emotional breakdown over the fact that Paula might be kissing Raku. HELLA AWESOME ART STYLE CHANGE courtesy of SHAFT animation.
Tsugumi finds a little loophole to the kiss, touching her lips to Raku’s and back to herself. Her threatening presence is enough for Paula to yield and Tsugumi officially wins. Tsugumi acknowledges Paula and the two have an adorable sisterly moment. Gosh I love Paula, she’s too cute.
