Episode 16 Rating: 3.5/5 curious clouds
We reach a bit of a stalemate between Rin, Shiro, Shinji and Gilgamesh… mainly because Gilgamesh has other matters to attend to. After all, homunculus hearts need to be carefully preserved… right?
Rin and Shiro leave the scene to properly bury Illya’s body. Shiro and Rin have a heated exchange on Shiro’s recklessness as a result of his survivor’s guilt from his back story.
At the end of the day, they end up bumping into Lancer and at this point of the Holy Grail war we’re getting into a mix and match of masters and servants where a single ally or enemy could tip the entire scale. Lancer’s master remains a mystery here but the three of them team up against Caster and her allies. As a fan I found it quite entertaining to see Lancer tease the couple a bit as. Rin is too adorbs when she goes into dere mode LOL and Shiro seems like a good fit for her. Nice to see that amidst all the fighting and plot development there’s still enough time to throw in a light-hearted exchange.
This episode flips perspectives quite a bit and we switch over to Archer’s new point of view from Caster’s side of the war. Interesting conversation between Archer and Souichirou and I thoroughly appreciated Archer’s moral debate stretch out to dialogue with supporting characters as well.
The episode ends with a build up to Lancer and Archer’s battle… A TOTAL CLIFFHANGER!!
