I’ve really been gone from anime for an entire week now do to summer family vacation activities. It’s pretty great to get back to a show like Himouto! Umaru-chan. It’s just so entertaining to follow. This week’s episode follows our best girl Umaru who heads off to the convenience store in the middle of the night for a cola run. Oh, the struggles in life…
With Umaru off to school on a Monday morning, Taihei has the entire sparkling clean house to himself. He’s almost at a lost for what to do without his little sister around. At least with Umaru around, her antics keep the house lively. Goodness, we see just how much Taihei’s life revolves around the dependent indoor Umaru. If anything, this episode highlights just how extreme the siblings are contrasted in the same household. Taihei is wayyyyy too focused on his work while Umaru is wayyyyy too focused on her fun. The two make such a charming pair to watch and while they seriously get on each other’s nerves at time, they can’t stand being apart from one another even on separate sides of a curtain.
The third quarter of the episode ends with Kirie, Taihei and Umaru/Komaru playing “The Game of Life.” Umaru is too skilled at games… plus she’s got the luck and she isn’t afraid to flaunt it 😉 Taihei on the other hand seems way too invested in the serious decision making processes. Kirie becomes a professional swimmer here and has an awkward end to the game but Umaru is just so sweet and encouraging to Kirie, I’m touched.
I was pretty surprised they fit Umaru’s birthday section into the last part of the episode. I’d have liked to see Umaru’s anxiety drag out a bit more when she thinks Taihei’s forgotten her birthday but it all works out when Umaru charges home as soon as school finishes and catches her brother setting up her birthday surprise. She can’t help rub it in hahaha
What are you pondering today?
