IMG-20130906-00334b

Hey guys! I visited the bookstore on the weekend and I Just wanted to let you guys know that Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin & Len artbooks have been officially released in North America. The books have beautiful metallic cover designs and contain over 150 illustrations of its featured character. They’re a good collection of fully coloured illustrations for the price that they’re sold for. They go for about 30-35 Canadian dollars over here (U.S. prices will vary)

Volume 1 features only Miku while the second volume features Rin & Len. Volume 3 of Megurine Luka will be released in stores on October 8 so be on the lookout for that if you’re planning on collecting the trilogy. If you’re a really huge fan of the vocaloids, the artbooks are really worth purchasing because you’re getting officially licensed art.

FanExpo Canada 2013 Panels Overview

Hello everyone! As we draw near the last hours of August, we finish off the summer holidays month with this last quickie blurb review of all the panels I attended at FanExpo this year. Many of the larger panels actually have their own feature post and should all be linked into the panel titles. Now, without further ado…

Thursday

Lolita Style and Fashion Panel- It was technically my first panel because the Anime AMV panel on Thursday was cancelled. I’ve been dabbling into Lolita fashion lightly and carefully. I wanted to balance the Lolita style with my usual casual every day style and create a look that was really me. I got lot of great tips for rocking the different Lolita aesthetic. Overall, I woul this panel would be really great for beginner Lolita girls.

Friday

Viz Media Panel- About a third of all my manga is published from Viz Media. Series like Ouran High School Host Club, Backstage Prince, Dawn of the Arcana, Demon Love Spell, Happy Marriage, Strobe Edge… the list goes on! If you guys want the details on this panel, please check out my Viz Media panel feature post!

Anime According to AMVs- This was really the first time I went to an AMVs themed panel and it sure made up for the one that was cancelled the day before. It was just a blast! It’s great to sit in a room with a bunch of people who love the same shows and the same characters as you. You learn about some new animes and get to laugh at some hilarious music videos as well!

Pro Author Panel – Epic World Building & Magic- A panel featuring Leslie Young, A.M. Dellamonica, Violette Malan and Linda Poitevin, they were all such wonderful and witty speakers. Ms. Malan had to be my favourite panelist. She gave such great advice and I was in awe at how knowledgeable she was.

Saturday

Comic Book Law – What Creators Need to Know- A really information and professional panel. It’s a basic and simple break-down of copyright, trademark and all the legal issues that come with your ownership of your characters, ideas, and so on.

Anime Music Video Gameshow- Super fun and interactive, prizes all around and even a penalty box. All anime fans should go watch and play.

Hatsune Miku Live Party Concert Screening

The Hatsune Miku Live Party Concert Screening was a great way to end my FanExpo weekend on Sunday. Though it took place in a movie theatre setting and it was only a screening of a Hatsune Miku concert, all the fans were still cheering and waving and singing to every song. It was tons of fun and I really hope that Crypton Future Media brings the concert over to Toronto soon!

Hope you guys like these photos! Thanks for dropping in!

Crypton Media Presents: Hatsune Miku Panel @ FanExpoCanada 2013

On Saturday of FanExpo Canada this year, I attended a panel featured around Hatsune Miku, a vocaloid. Now, you may be wondering, “What is a vocaloid?” If many of you are familiar with the vocaloids, you’ll know that they’re not anime characters nor are they from a game. Vocaloids are basically voice synthesizers that work together with other together with other audio workstations and music editing programs to create music.

The Crypton Media Hatsune Miku panel was really great because it answered a lot of questions pertaining the possibility of well, more Miku in North America. First off, it was announced that the Hatsune Miku V3 English will be officially released on August 31 – This week! The voice of English Miku stays true to the original Japanese voice actress Saki Fujita and the program will be available for both Windows and Max users.

Hatsune Miku English will come with a piapro studio vocal editor with an English database, a full digital audio workstation and more than 200 visual instruments. The download version will be released first and the entire thing costs about 149 dollars + tax.

For all you gamers out there, the Hatsune Miku Project Diva F English version, available on the PlayStation 3 will be released this week. I originally played this game in Japanese on my friend’s PSP. It’s really addicting and if you enjoy games like Dance Dance Revolution or music related games, you’ll love it! If they convert the official English version into PSP format, I might just buy a PSP just to play and own the game.

As well, there’s actually a Hatsune Miku Opera that played earlier in Japan this year. It’s called The End and features three huge screens to animate the vocaloid as she sings. Miku’s outfits were designed by the French fashion designer Louis Vuitton in collaboration with Marc Jacobs and his own studio team.

Vocaloid culture and Hatsune Miku fandom seems to be growing by slowly and steadily, accumulating fans all over the world. And it’s great! Because there are new songs being created every day with the Vocaloid programs, new designs, images and videos!

Lastly, release dates for the first official Miku books in English are going to be released this year!

Starting with CV01: Hatsune Miku Edition ($29.95) – August 28, 2013

CV02: Kagamine Rin & Len Edition ($34.95) – August 28, 2013

CV03: Megurine Luka Edition ($34.95) – October 30, 2013

If you guys are more curious as to what Miku is all about, search up the Hatsune Miku Google Chrome commercial. It’s really short and cute but it really sums up the entire vocaloid culture really well.

Here are some of my favourite vocaloid songs…

Gumi- Hey DJ!

Hatsune Miku- Story

Hatsune Miku- Senbonzakura

Megurine Luka- The Tailor Shop on Enbizaka

Hatsune Miku- Tell Your World

Gakupo- Breathe

Kagamine Rin- Romantic Escape

I hope you guys liked this mini feature. More features from FanExpo Canada to come soon!
