FanExpo Canada 2013 Panels Overview

Hello everyone! As we draw near the last hours of August, we finish off the summer holidays month with this last quickie blurb review of all the panels I attended at FanExpo this year. Many of the larger panels actually have their own feature post and should all be linked into the panel titles. Now, without further ado…

Thursday

Lolita Style and Fashion Panel- It was technically my first panel because the Anime AMV panel on Thursday was cancelled. I’ve been dabbling into Lolita fashion lightly and carefully. I wanted to balance the Lolita style with my usual casual every day style and create a look that was really me. I got lot of great tips for rocking the different Lolita aesthetic. Overall, I woul this panel would be really great for beginner Lolita girls.

Friday

Viz Media Panel- About a third of all my manga is published from Viz Media. Series like Ouran High School Host Club, Backstage Prince, Dawn of the Arcana, Demon Love Spell, Happy Marriage, Strobe Edge… the list goes on! If you guys want the details on this panel, please check out my Viz Media panel feature post!

Anime According to AMVs- This was really the first time I went to an AMVs themed panel and it sure made up for the one that was cancelled the day before. It was just a blast! It’s great to sit in a room with a bunch of people who love the same shows and the same characters as you. You learn about some new animes and get to laugh at some hilarious music videos as well!

Pro Author Panel – Epic World Building & Magic- A panel featuring Leslie Young, A.M. Dellamonica, Violette Malan and Linda Poitevin, they were all such wonderful and witty speakers. Ms. Malan had to be my favourite panelist. She gave such great advice and I was in awe at how knowledgeable she was.

Saturday

Comic Book Law – What Creators Need to Know- A really information and professional panel. It’s a basic and simple break-down of copyright, trademark and all the legal issues that come with your ownership of your characters, ideas, and so on.

Crypton Future Media Presents: Hatsune Miku Panel

Anime Music Video Gameshow- Super fun and interactive, prizes all around and even a penalty box. All anime fans should go watch and play.

Once Upon a Time Premiere Screening @ FanExpo Canada 2013

OUAT-Wonderland-Title-Card

Hey guys! I had the amazing opportunity to attend the season premiere preview twenty minute screening of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. It begins with Alice, stuck in an insane asylum. Despite her past adventures in Wonderland and the proof she’s brought back for her father, he disbelieves her stories and sends her into a medical facility. After the death of her beloved Genie Cyrus, she’s set on forgetting everything about Wonderland in order to forget the pain and loss that came after. However, when the White Rabbit and the Knave of Hearts come bringing news of Cyrus’ survival, Alice is ready to get back into the game in search for her true love.

coupleStarring…

Sophie Lowe as Alice

Michael Socha as the Knave of Hearts

Peter Gadiot as Cyrus the Genie

John Lithgow as the voice of the White Rabbit

Emma Rigby as the Red Queen

Jonny Coyne as Dr. Lydgate

Naveen Andrews as Jafar

Barbara Hershey as the Queen of Hearts/Cora

If you guys are fans of Alice in Wonderland, as I am, you’ll love the series. The special effects are really well done, the art direction for Wonderland is really vibrant and detailed from what I’ve seen for far. The first episode airs on October 10 so be on the lookout for that soon!

Right on Target with Stephen Amell @FanExpo Canada 2013

Hey guys! The best part of my FanExpo experience this year has to be meeting Stephen Amell and going to his panel and hearing him talk. For those of you who don’t know, Amell plays Oliver Queen on the hit superhero series Arrow based on the superhero Green Arrow. I’m so proud that such a great and talented actor is Canadian. If you guys haven’t seen the series, season 1 just finished in May so definitely go check that out! I think I’m both equal superhero fan and Stephen Amell fangirl. He’s just so badass as the vigilante!! He’s definitely my favourite actor out there!

Please credit me and link my blog if you use my photos! Thanks for dropping in!

FanExpo Canada 2013 Photography Part 2

Since I don’t edit much of my convention cosplay photography, the only difficult part is actually choosing the ones that go up on the site. Don’t worry though, no one was cut out! Here’s part 2 of the photographs taken on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was INSANE! I’ve never seen so many people crammed into a convention centre before!

All these photographs are completely eating up my media space on the site but it’s totally worth it! I hope you guys like your photos. Check out “Behind the Lens” for more of my work and I am available for cosplay photoshoots or any other events that require a photographer. I’m usually back and forth between Toronto and Kingston. Just shoot me an email to littlecloudcuriosity@gmail.com if you need me!

To the girl who cosplayed as Nanami Haruka from my favourite anime- Uta no Prince-Sama, YOU ARE AWESOME!! You totally made my weekend and I would love to do a photo shoot of you! Please email me if you’re interested!

Also, I can’t believe someone actually cosplayed as Haru from Free! (I wonder if he jumped into the fountain outside for a swim…)

Star Wars Photo Shoot! (A compilation of photographs) Most epic gathering of cosplayers I have ever seen By the way, anyone spot Waldo in the photographs?

Additional photos of cosplayers and panelists that my dad took with his camera! (Yu Asakawa is so pretty in person!)

This is the last of the cosplay and general convention photography. Special panel reviews + photography will come soon. Please check my latest Cloudy Says post for the list of posts/features coming soon!

FanExpo Canada 2013 Photography Part 1

Memories may fade and convention hype may die down but PHOTOGRAPHS ARE FOREVER! Here’s the first part of the photos that I took on Thursday and Friday! (I really tried to tag everyone and everything that I could possibly think of)

I hope you guys like these photos. If you use them on Facebook or anywhere else please credit me and my site in the comments! Thanks a ton!

The following batch of photos were the ones that my dad grabbed with his camera!

Cloudy Says…

Hi guys!! I hope you all have been well! I know I haven’t blogged much this weekend and it’s because I’ve been so busy at the convention these past few days. For my readers who DID go to FanExpo… WAS IT NOT TOTALLY AWESOME!?!?!?

DSC_0210b

I met artists, cosplayers, bloggers, vloggers, videographers, photographers, authors, panelists and… STEPHEN AMELL!! There were so many more people this year! This was probably my most exciting convention experience to date. I really feel like I got my money’s worth with all that I packed into my personal panel schedule as well as all the shopping I did in the Artist Alley and Dealer’s Room.

If I bumped into any of you guys, chances are, I gave you one of my cards. If I didn’t, it was probably because the crowds swept me away or if you’re a cosplayer, there were probably too many photographers around you for me to speak to you (but that’s a good thing too! Means your costume was totally badass!)

I have a LOT to share with you guys throughout this week as well as catch up with our regular scheduled anime reviews. As well, I collected a lot of new manga so I can’t wait to read those and write up some reviews as well.

Since my last convention, Atomic Lollipop, was much smaller, I had an easier time organizing everything and showcasing it in a post. This time however, there’s WAY too much to cram in a post… well, I could do one giant post but you might end up scrolling into eternity. So here are all the major features list that will be coming soon this week… The ones crossed out are already posted, feel free to use the search bar if you can’t find what you’re looking for!

Hi everyone! Welcome to another segment of Cloudy Says!  I hope you are all well and for all my friends who live close to Toronto and are heading to FanExpo Canada this afternoon I can’t wait to meet you all! If you get one of these cards, then you’ll have bumped into me!

Just wanted to let you guys in on new reviews and features that are coming up soon. I will definitely be  doing a FanExpo Canada Haul after the convention so be on the lookout for that next week, as well as lots of cosplay photography and event features.

Recently, I’ve been dabbling into many new manga series so new book reviews will be up soon. Manga reviews are my favourite posts to write but due to the pressing weekly episode releases it has been difficult to balance anime reviews with other posts. But have no fear, those are coming back soon!

On that note, what do you guys think of the summer series so far? Vote for what you think and leave a comment on your favourite new series this season!

Hi guys! I’ve been super busy with the summer anime episode reviews every week that I haven’t had time to update you guys on what else I’ve been doing.

To be honest, I’m a little bored with reviewing some of the series as of now but because many of them are 12-13 episodes, we’re just about halfway through all of them and hopefully things really pick up in the plot before any big reveals or climactic twists.

As of yesterday, both the full opening and ending songs of Kimi no Iru Machi have been released. I’ve been waiting for the opening for so long. It’s so catchy, it’s one of my new favourites!

Cover 2Kimi no Iru Machi Opening- Sentimental Love by MimimemeMIMI

Kimi no Iru Machi Full ED SingleKimi no Iru Machi Ending- A Town Where You Live by Yoshimasa Hosoya

I have a few “Out of the Box” planned for later on since the first one was posted just recently. As well, I have a lot of manga lined up for the next while. I’m still learning to balance the seasonal anime episodes with my manga, otaku and other reviews. Thank you all for bearing with me, following and being supportive!

I’m also trying to keep up with my fan art and drawings but those always seem to fall through the cracks when things pile up. FanExpo Canada is also coming up at the end of the month and I’ve been eagerly preparing for that. The official floor plan and schedule have been released so if you guys are going you can definitely check that out on the official FanExpo Canada site.

Lastly, hotmail has been seriously derping me this summer. I’ve gone through two email addresses already. Something always goes wrong so I’m switching to gmail. If I gave you my card at Atomic Lollipop or if you’re looking for me for photography, I’ve changed my email. You can find me at littlecloudcuriosity@gmail.com if you can. For the next while, I’ll still be dropping into my old email to make sure all my contacts are moved to my new one just to be safe.

Thank you guys for sticking with me so far. I’m trying my best to put out new reviews every day and hopefully you guys can find something you like. If you like what you see, don’t forget to share with your friends and follow for notifications of new content! Thank you again for dropping in to visit and I’m sure I will talk to you guys very soon!

Hey guys! How are your summers so far? Today I have some really exciting news and some updates. With the release of the fifth episodes this weekend, music lovers will be excited to know that opening and ending theme songs for the summer animes will be coming soon. So far, the full opening song for Free!, BroCon, Fantasista Doll and Rozen Maiden (2013) as well as the ending song Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi have all been officially released.

Also, yesterday was the release date for Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou, Fate Kaleid Liner and Kimi no Iru Machi’s ending song. Here are the other release dates for animes that I’ve been covering so far…

July 31 – BroCon ED, Fate Kaleid Liner OP

Aug 7 – Free! ED, Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou OP, Rozen Maiden 2013 ED

Aug 14 – Kimi no Iru Machi OP

I’m really excited for this upcoming month. First of all, I’ll be stopping by Atomic Lollipop from August 2nd-4th. My birthday is actually on the 9th and Fanexpo Canada will be at the end of the month from the 22nd-25th

As well, I will be picking up Black Butler volume 14 and hopefully I can get my hands on a copy of the first volume of K-On! College. I know I still owe you guys a review of Missions of Love Volume 4 and that’s coming as soon as I find time to review it. I have a lot of exiting anime reviews to look forward to write every week on top of the other otaku-related rants I’m planning and artwork I’m drawing.

New posts are coming every day as well as new photography that I try to take as often as possible! Thank you guys so much for reading, liking, commenting, following!
