Looking Back on 2013, Getting Excited for 2014

Hey guys, so today’s post isn’t particularly related to an anime or a manga, it’s really more of a rant for me reflecting on 2013 and all my goals for 2014. Forgive me for the cheesiness of this post… I’m not a particularly cheesy person but 2013 was a pretty life changing year for me.

I have a New Year’s Eve tradition with my parents where we just sit at home, watch the New York countdown from our television, and countdown in the house. Every year, the new year to me has seemed like something I’m looking forward to because the previous year was never fulfilling enough or happy enough and just not good enough. This year, counting down to 2014, I realized that I was almost sad to see 2013 over because I made so many great memories and really, it was the first year where I didn’t have any crazy arguments with parents or drama with friends and it wasn’t like everything in 2013 went rainbow-rosy-easy, I think it was my new attitude that put things into perspective.

2013 encompassed the bulk of my first year university experiences. 2013 was the year that I pushed myself to be a better photographer. 2013 was the year I started Little Cloud Curiosity. 2013 was the year that I stopped complaining and worrying about the things that went wrong in the past and started thinking about all the things I’m happy for in the present and all the things I can look forward to. You know that looking back on your timeline thing that Facebook does? Seeing it actually helped me put my memories in perspective. I made tons of new friends in person, or with you guys over my blog, I loved, I had my heart broken, I travelled, I made art, I studied my ass off for exams, I did so many things and it’s the first time that I’ve ever felt like I made the most of each and every single day in 2013.

Still, I don’t think I’ve reached complete Enlightenment or Nirvana or whatever you want to call it. I still have worries, I stress about school and let’s face it, I get mood swings but I’m confident that I can take on whatever life throw at me and I encourage you to do the same. Go out and try something new, even if it’s watching an anime totally outside your regular genre. Girls can watch Kill La Kill, Guys can try Free!!

I really just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who came into my life this year, whether I met you were a cosplayer I met, an artist who I bought fan art from, a classmate, a friend or even a stranger who smiled at me across the library when I was stressing over my studies. THANK. YOU. SO. MUCH. For coming into my life and making my 2013 what it is. A particular special shout out goes out to you guys, my wonderful, wonderful followers for sticking with me this year.

I have a few general goals outlined for 2014 but of course, things never go super according to plan. I’m applying for an international exchange a week from now. I’m submitting my application for universities in Hong Kong, England, Scotland, New Zealand and Singapore. I know I will keep blogging regularly because it’s just such a big part of my life. I’m thinking of Youtube videos for vlogs or hauls or rants but I’m pretty nervous about putting myself out there in a video. What do you guys think? Let me know down in the comments J I can’t wait for spring to come, for summer to come just so I can run outside in the sunshine (Yes, that sounds so kiddy but I actually love doing that) What New Year’s resolutions do you guys have for 2014?

Best of luck to everyone’s goals for 2014. Once again, thank you for dropping in, reading, following me; whether you’ve just found LCC today or you’ve been with me for a while, thank you, REALLY! It’s so hard to express my gratitude over the internet, but I’m truly grateful for each and every one of you guys.

I won’t stray off from regular reviews too much and these kinds of posts come once in a while so shoot me a thumbs up if you liked this and *raises Gundam green Haro mug in a toast* here’s to a great 2014!! LETS KILL IT IN THE NEW YEAR!!!

Nendoroid Petite Mami and Homura Photography

Hey guys, HAPPY NEW YEAR and for the first day of January 2014, I wanted to share with you some figure photography. Here is Mami Tomoe and Homura Akemi from the Nendoroid Petite Puella Magi Madoka Magica Box Set. I bought these two figures while on vacation and I spent quite a bit of time trying to guess my way into my favourite figures or at least two that weren’t identical. This collection is pretty much sold out now so I’m glad I picked up two when I got the chance.

Here is the full set, photo courtesy of the Good Smile Company online site here.

Here are some New Year’s evening themed photography done with Christmas lights (and sparkles). I just wanted to glam up these magic girls for the holiday. I picked up some decorations on sale after Boxing Day and everything was actually set up at home on top of a box and in front of a white wall so I really focused a lot on setting up in order to blow up the white lighting in order to set a snowy bright wash over the scene

Again, taken with my Sigma 17-70mm on my Nikon D3100 😉

I hope you guys enjoyed this photos. They were just taken yesterday a few hours before the new year so they’re hot off the SD card 😉 I also wish you all a wonderful rest of holidays and safe winter with your family and friends. Cheers to a great new year!

K-On Tea Party

I’ve decided that during the in between season of anime to focus a bit on manga series. I do love reviewing new manga very much and I’m not going to do a list this time because I’ve realized that I review a lot on inspiration so I don’t end up following those lists very well. If I have a flash of inspiration pertaining to the Light Otaku Rants, I will definitely write those too. For anime, continuing from the fall Season into winter is Tokyo Ravens and Kill La Kill (whoo!) so this in between period is a great way to rewatch the series or reread some reviews to remember what happened in the first half before the second half begins. I’m working on the post for the new winter season as of right now. If you would like a list of all my fall season anime, check out the anime season page at the top or scroll through the side bar. If you’re looking for a rundown of the latest posts, check out the Recent Posts widget at the bottom.

This week I reworked some categories in the right bar so hopefully some reviews are easier to find. All the rants have been split from Light Otaku Living into the Light Otaku Rants category and all the manga reviews have been re-categorized as well.  Here is some fanart from Kill La Kill to welcome 2014, Mako’s positive determination is a great way to kick off the new year.

I hope you all had a great year wherever you are and here’s to more great things in the New Year. Cheers!!!
