HAPPY WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY!! (Mako Mankanshoku Nendoroid Summer Colours Photoshoot)

Hey guys! Happy World Photography Day!

Mako Rainbow Stars_littlecloudcuriosity (1)

I didn’t even know until I checked Twitter but apparently there is a day for every thing now, thanks to social media. In honour of today I wanted to share with you guys a really fun photography shoot I did last month with my Kill La Kill Mako Mankanshoku Nendoroid figure. One of the reasons why I bought Mako was because she is such a fun and versatile character. You can literally set her up in any setting and her personality will instantly add its own charm to the atmosphere. In this shoot, I played around with lighting, props and tons of bright colours as inspired by summer sunshine. This was also the first time I used a full frame Nikon D750, a new camera that was passed over to me by my dad. I used the 24-120 mm Nikkor lens and it was really a trick trying to figure out the angles because the lens wouldn’t focus if I pushed the focal point too close. The only bit of editing done was with contrast and brightness. Overall I am quite pleased with these final shots and I hope you’ll enjoy scrolling through 🙂

Cloudy’s Otaku Workout Playlist

2945306348-1Hey guys! I’t’s been quite a while since I’ve posted a Light Otaku Living piece. I’ve been working on this post for a while now. Part of what pumps me up during summer is the fact that the sunny weather just motivates you to go outside and do exercise… Just kidding! Who wants to do exercise when we could curl up the corner with our favourite anime plushie and marathon our all-time favourite anime series for hours on end? Okay, that all sounds good and well but you have to get up SOMETIME because you need to eat, drink, handle other bodily functions and sleep… well, maybe not that last one when it comes to an anime marathon.

I’ve been noticing that I’ve been getting really antsy from holing up in the house all day for work or blog writing so one morning I decided to head down to my basement (where it’s the coolest in temperature) and start exercising.

All I did was compile a list of my favourite upbeat anime songs and start moving my body. Here’s what I use for my mini workout at home. I have exercises I do from 1-10 but songs 11-15 are other songs I use for cardio.

I love my otome game songs and I know the Fate series lean more towards shonen but you can’t NOT put Carnival Phantasm and Fate Zero in there! Also, Sword Art Online, anything with vocaloids and Touhou Project are also ones that stands in the middle of both shojo and shonen.

For the shonen playlist, I tried my best find all the best songs from a wide range of animes. I threw in a bit of Madoka because for some reason, all the guys I know absolutely love that series… as well as some K-On for you light music lovers 😉

I hope you guys like what I’ve compiled here… I just realized I forgot to throw in any Inuyasha into the lists but feel free to add your own selections to what I have so far. I tried really hard to get a mix of some oldies and some newer ones.

Thank you guys for reading this really long post and I hope you found something fun to listen to. Hopefully I motivated you just a bit to throw in a few minutes of exercise every day. Comment below on the songs you like from the lists or a song that’s not on the lists. I would love hear your favourites! Have a great day!

Travel Tips for an Otaku-on-the-Go!

So you’re stuck on a plane, in a car on a train… and you’re a bored Otaku. WHAT DO YOU DO?!?!  Well, if you’ve brought along your trusty body pillow with your favourite anime character, I’m sure that makes for very colourful conversation. However, if you’re like me and you like to travel light, here are a few ideas for you guys to get through those long travel hours.

Anime Beats

1)      Load up on music!

What better way to spend 20 hours isolated in a seat than to spend it in a world of anime music? Make a LOONNNGG playlist of your favourite tunes, slip on some nice headphones, hoodie up, and be a hermit for the next little while.

Brock_Mudkip2)      Favourite Plushie

Face it, if you’re hauling your ass to the airport at six in the morning for an early flight, you’re going to knock out as soon as you get onto the plane. Bring your favourite anime plushie to keep you cozy… no, not the giant Miku doll that requires an extra passenger seat (and ticket). Maybe a little mudkip, (or if you’re me, bring your favourite Sebastian doll <3)

3)      Manga?

Do not. And I repeat. Do not. Bring all your manga wherever you’re going. I know it seems like a good idea when you’re powering through 50+ novels of Naruto on the train, but books weigh A TON and with the extra shopping you might do over your trip, you might exceed your baggage weight or quantity. If you’re really desperate to read manga on your trip, load your manga onto an tablet, eReader and laptop.  It’s a weightless way to bring along your favourite stories while saving space all at the same time.

4)      GAMES!

This covers a wide variety of things… It’s great if you have a sibling or travelling with a friend and you’ve both got a DS or game console; hours of fun racing with Super Mario Brothers or miscellaneous party games. If you’re bringing a laptop, the free time traveling in between destinations is a great time to power through an entire visual novel… or clear all the levels in Touhou.

amaya_artist_15)      Getting creative

I’ve found that the best time to write is when it’s dark, everyone’s asleep and you get in the zone with pen and paper, or keys and laptop screen. Write some fanfiction!! If you’re not much of a writer, bring along a sketchbook, a loaded pencil case and sketch away! You’ll be amazed at how quickly time passes.

I hope I gave you guys a few new ideas to make those endless hours of travel not as exhausting. This piece was probably inspired by my slight claustrophobic and fidgety time on the plane from Toronto to Hong Kong. I have horrible internet here which is why I haven’t been posting as often but I’m trying my best! Thank you guys so much for reading and I will talk to you guys soon!
