My Anime List of 2016

Hey guys, how are you all? It’s been over a year since I made my last post. One of the reasons is because life and school has swamped me entirely. Another reason is because there are logistical issues with WordPress that … Continue reading

The Sunshine Award!!

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share the Sunshine award with you all. I’ve been nominated by the Sky Corps on Twitter AKA (Nick) from the Anime Corps. If you guys don’t know of them check out their blog cause they are a whole team of anime enthusiasts covering so much new stuff every season!!

The Sunshine Award is “an award given to ‘bloggers who are positive and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere’”sunshine

Here are the rules…

  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Answer the questions from the person who nominated you
  • Write new ones and nominate others you feel deserve the award =D
  • Post that shiny award button on your blog!! 😉

Now, here are the six questions they’ve asked me… I decided to answer them in vlog form so they could go up on my channel and my blog.

  • How many times have you rewatched your favourite anime? How would you say the show feels after the second or third time watching it?
  • If you made your own anime, which genre would it be and why?
  • Which of the media typically associated with our interests (i.e. anime, manga, light novels, visual novels, etc.) is the best for telling an interesting story?
  • What manga or light novel would you want to have an anime adaptation?
  • Are you an avid manga or light novel reader? If so, do you prefer reading from a physical book or digitally from a tablet or computer?
  • What was it that made your all time top favorite anime so special for you? Story? Characters? The Cast? Studio? Animation? Why is it your top favourite anime?

Now… time for some new nominees… I hope this award isn’t only anime exclusive but I’ll try to keep it within the anime fandom. I’d like to nominate…

Ogiue Maniax Great insight and analyses. Your classy critiques always provide me with a refreshing interpretation to any series.

Love-colored Sky I love your enthusiasm for the games you play. Your detailed summaries and reviews really give me a good grasp of the story for games I haven’t bought or played.

Here are my questions to you guys…

  • What motivates your enthusiasm for your blog?
  • What is the biggest trend you see in current anime, manga or visual novels?
  • What character, either in a series or game, do you find yourself constantly relating back to?
  • Which anime series has the most memorable soundtrack for you?
  • If you made your own anime, which genre would it be and why?
  • What are you currently watching (anime), reading (manga or light novel) or playing (visual novel)?

Thanks for reading and once again, thank you to the Anime Corps crew for nominating me and thank you everyone who supports my blog and my channel!! <333

Hey guys, how are you all?

Haven’t talked to you guys in a long while so it’s about due time for an update…

It’s summer for me now and despite the rainy week in my hometown, summer brings along a ton of creative inspiration. I’m still settling back into old routines and to be honest, I feel quite uprooted after a whole year in the UK. Lately I’ve felt like my blog has been stuck in a long cycle of anime reviews, season after season. It’s not that I don’t enjoy writing reviews, I love it. In fact, blogging relaxes me so much… I’m hoping that with the extra time I have in the summer, I’ll be able to create other anime related posts, whether it’s commentary on a topic that’s been circulating the online anime community, a figure photography feature, an unboxing post, or something totally new.

Aside from pursuing new and creative projects this summer, the spring anime season is just about finished. We’ve only got about one or two more weeks to go which means new summer anime features will be up very soon! It’s been a real challenge this year keeping up with my blog, my Youtube channel, my social life and my school work. To keep it simple, here’s a video to wrap it up…

Thank you for giving Little Cloud Curiosity the blog and the channel so much love this year and I hope you’ll continue to look forward to everything coming up soon 🙂

European Discovery!!

InnisbrookHey guys, how are you all? Today I wanted to share with you guys tons of pictures of my trip across Europe. I took a trip with Contiki tours which is an organized tour for individuals between the ages of eighteen or thirty-five. The trip was really spectacular. I went from London to Amsterdam, Rhine Valley, Munich, Innisbrook, Hopfgarten, Venice, Rome, Florence, Paris and back to London again… ALL IN TEN DAYS. Really this was one of the most life changing trips I’ve ever taken. I really didn’t take any pictures in London because I’ve been to the city so many times but here are some highlights from my trip.

My favourite city of the entire trip is definitely Venice with Florence being a close second. I just love how the cities are so warm and exciting. Venice was a dream, really. And we really didn’t get to spend enough time in Florence because we were literally there for less than a day and then quickly hopped back onto the coach bus for France. Rome had been one of my most looked-forward-to destinations but in general the city didn’t live up to the dreamy expectations I had had in my Latin and ancient history studies. The highlight of Amsterdam was the Anne Frank Museum and later in Germany, we took a detour into a concentration camp in Dachau which was a really eye-opening and humbling visit for me. Innisbrook and Hopfgarten were the coziest and sleepiest towns I’d ever been in. We were literally whispering on the streets because of how tight-knit the community was. My favourite part of Rhine Valley was the wine tasting because their white wines and ice wine was just absolutely A-MA-ZING.

On the bus >v<France though was probably one of the most hectic days for me. The night we arrived in Paris, we headed to the Eiffel Tower, went all the way to the top, checked off my bucket list and then ran down EVERY SINGLE STEP back to the coach bus cause we thought we wouldn’t make it in time hahaha. The next morning, my travel buddies and I woke up extra early to get into the city by seven. Since the Metro is so convenient, we got into the Notre Dame on Easter Sunday which was really wonderful. Next stop, I headed to the Louvre while my friends headed shopping. Then over to Angelina’s for some delicious brunch and (famous) hot chocolate of course. Finally, we walked down the Champs-Elysees and hiked up to the Arc de Triomphe. The entire trip ended with a fabulous night at Moulin Rouge with singing, dancing, good food and good wine. All in all, it was an absolutely magical and fantastic trip. If you guys get the chance you should definitely take a tour with Contiki cause it’s a great way to meet new and diverse people from all over the world.

These are just some of my main highlights from the memories on my trip. Hopefully in the next week or so I can skim through my travel video clips and put together one or two vlogs to share on my channel. Till then, I hope you guys enjoy some of these pictures =)

Cloudy Says… Thoughts on the Winter Season (2015) Thus Far…

Banner Third Design

Hey guys, here’s an unusual Cloudy Says but today I wanted to talk a bit about the winter season in general. This season throws us a pretty unusual selections of anime in general and after watching quite a few of the pilot episodes and dipping my toes in a variety of genres (some genres that I don’t even usually touch) I think I can safely say that this isn’t going to be a really high point season for me.

Sure there are tons of great additional seasons coming out for a lot of the pre-existing series and franchises, however in terms of new series, a lot of it falls short and many series won’t be getting as much attention due to popular hype over shows like Kuroko no Basket, Durarara and Tokyo Ghoul (all well-deserved hype) I might add.

Azusa ThinkingSo I thought to myself, what should I do this season? Should I focus more on manga? Or hauls? Or rants? Perhaps photography? But before I make any final decisions for this upcoming season I’d like to touch base with all of you who are following my blog or watching my videos… what new shows are you guys watching?

My current anime series include… Death Parade, Absolute Duo (tentatively depending on the fan service), Binan Koukou Chikyuubouebi Love (for the hilarity), The Rolling Girls, iDOLM@STER, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, Shirobako and Akatsuki no Yona (reviews currently backlogged due to new series). You guys already know where my tastes generally lie judging from previous seasons and the list above.

Now, if there’s any new shows that are awesome that I might have missed, please let me know in the poll and also remember to vote for what series you’d like to see reviews or videos on since there are two polls below…

January’s been a pretty hectic and crazy season for me. I flew back from Hong Kong and immediately had exams after I returned to the UK… not to mention that the second academic term for me starts literally the day after my exams finish…

As a result I dropped behind on a few pilot impressions which I apologize for missing some or posting late. However, I did realize that many of the series just didn’t particularly jump out at me. Some are too ecchi for my taste or the art style differs from my usual preferences. If all goes well throughout the season, you guys can probably expect Manga Mondays to return because I am REALLY trying to plan in more time for manga. I know I say this a lot but this season I am really going to make those MM videos come back. It’s always on my mind after all… Aside from that, one video will be coming every week ehh sometime during the week whenever I find time between all my commitments to school and extra-curriculars.

Once again, the blog post will be updated regularly and as frequently as possible because I am foremost a blogger I think… and blogging does really help me unwind. Aside from that, thank you all for checking in with me for this month’s update and I will talk to you guys very soon in my next video or blog post.

YOUTUBE

You may or may not remember but this year I started a Youtube channel >.< and to be honest, it was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. After a shaky start, I’ve started to settle into the ways of the Youtube world and I’m really glad you guys enjoy my videos. We’ve recently hit 2000 subscribers so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I know I don’t reply to every comment on the channel or other social media but I do read every single comment, I just can’t reply to all of them because life just happens sometimes >.< but thank you for commenting nonetheless, giving your input and suggestions really help me figure out what videos to do.

Speaking of the channel, the most recent series features my little adventures in Hong Kong with family and friends this holiday season. If you are interested in watching or may have missed one, you can check them out in the playlist here. There should be six videos in total, the last one featuring my trip to Disneyland in Hong Kong (which will be uploaded soon).

LOOKING FORWARD

There will definitely be first impressions for as many first episodes I can get my hands on. As well, a poll will go up for you guys to give your vote on what reviews you’d like to see this season. For now, please check out the poll below and vote on what types of videos you guys want to see more of in 2015. Your opinion really matters to me so if you have time and you enjoy my content, please take the time to offer a few clicks.

Two more hauls will be coming on the channel. One vlog will focus on a Girl’s Haul with merchandise for otome, Free, UtaPri and shoujo fans. Another vlog will focus on another fun fandom of mine. As well, I am trying really hard to schedule in time to film some rants for you guys cause there’s really A LOT going on in the anime world every day, all the time.

I have recently been inspired to do street photography again. I went on a photography crawl with a close friend in Hong Kong the other day so when those photos are processed and edited, they will go up on the blog.

SO NOW…

I will be returning to the UK this week and settling into an exam schedule routine when I get back. Videos are coming as soon as I can, as quick as I can film and edit them. Blog posts come as soon as episodes are released. What excites me about getting back to the UK is the Out of the Box that’s coming from a pre-ordered package from Japan so if you guys are curious about that don’t forget to subscribe and stay tuned for more ^^

Always I like to remind you guys that the blog is always most updated above all else, though Twitter comes a close second. The channel runs on its own rhythm though it often cross-references with blog recaps and reviews for popular series. You guys can also check out Tumblr for other fun posts or Facebook for regularly updated posts.

Once again, thank you so much for reading, commenting and dropping into my blog and my channel. I will continue doing my best in the upcoming year to link you guys with the coolest reviews, recaps, merchandise features.

Snoopy 65th Anniversary in Hong Kong

Here’s the story of how I happened upon a legion of Snoopys…

DSC_5032My mom had arrived in Hong Kong a few weeks earlier than me and the first place she took me the morning after I arrived was the APM Mall in Kwun Tong where she knew the giant anniversary commemorative display was set up.Growing up, Charles Schulz’ Peanuts gang was my favourite comic strip series and it still is. I just love Schulz’s characters for their varying personalities, quirky and amusing interactions. He has some of the most unforgettable classic characters ever. My favourite tidbit of the display? The giant character statues that showcased Snoopy’s transformation from his early days on all fours, to the 90s where he hits that iconic image.

If you’re looking for some live footage, check out the first vlog in my Hong Kong Christmas Series on my channel!!

Cloudy Says…

Hey guys, welcome to another Cloudy Says update. I didn’t have much time to write put together a more comprehensive one in the last minute scramble to pack, early essays and evaluations but I hope you guys generally get the gist of what’s going on here. I am NOT stopping reviews or videos, they’ll just be dialed down for the next week or so and of course I’ll try my best to fit all the reviews into the family stuff I’m handling plus get some travel blogging in.

Don’t forget to check out any of the MCM Birmingham Convention Vlog or Haul videos that have gone up, as well as drop in for your weekly anime recap or review. Lots of series are hitting the mid-series mark or ending soon so Winter 2014 previews will go up sometime in the next few weeks.

Till then, I hope you guys take care and have a kickass set of exams (for those of you writing exams), and a wonderful holiday =)

Cloudy Says… End of October News ^^*

Banner Third Design

Hey guys, how are you all? HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! \*O*/

What’s up with me?

It’s been a really crazy October for me. I’ve been juggling schoolwork with new anime series reviews and vlogs as well. Last week I travelled to London to attend the MCM London Comicon which was AMAZING for me because it was my very first convention in the UK and I really don’t know what to expect. Plus, I ended up travelling alone cause everyone I made plans with ended up with last minute interruptions and bailed BUT traveling alone was a really refreshing, reflective and free-spirited experience that I enjoyed more than I thought I would. I’m an only child so I’m really okay with spending time with myself but I also found making new friends on my trip a lot more encouraging especially when I was hanging around London exhibits or fangirling at the convention tables over cute anime merchandise. Shout out to all my fellow travelers and con-goers who took a picture for me. The one downside of traveling alone is that you always have to ask other people for pictures. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed exploring London in the last week.

What’s new with the blog?

The blog is still going as-is. The recaps and reviews are coming whenever I find time to write and screenshot and publish posts. I know I say I always post something at least once a day but lately I’ve been skipping days here and there but it’s for good reason. Sometimes I’m out with friends, most of the time I’m doing schoolwork and sometimes I’m exploring the city. Since I’m only in the UK for a year, I’m really trying to make the most of it by taking day trips to nearby cities or just exploring Manchester where I live.

**This anime season I’ve decided to officially recap & review five series- Donten ni Warau, Sora no Method, Akatsuki no Yona, Shirobako, Shigasu wa Kimi no Uso, Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works

Watching but not reviewing- Gugure! Kokkuri-san, Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji, Denki-gai no Honya-san, Yuuki Yuuna Yusha wa Aru

Reviewing from last season- Akame Ga Kill, Sword Art Online II: Gun Gale Online

BUT like in every season, I set up a poll to find out WHAT YOU GUYS ARE WATCHING and take that into account with other series I should check out for First Impressions or reviews…

What’s new with the channel?

The channel videos are not as frequent as the schedule I set up in the summer. That’s of course because my summers are for myself and during most of the year I have lectures and assignments to attend to. At the time of this post, I’m doing solid video reviews for Sword Art Online II (bi-weekly) and Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works (weekly or bi-weekly depending on plot progression).

**Will Manga Mondays return? YES!! I am trying to find more time to film miscellaneous videos that I personally want to rant about but it’s difficult with my current commitments in school and my personal life. It’s always on my mind though…

**I’m also editing my MCM London Comicon 2014 VLOG which will come hopefully in the next week… The MCM Comicon Artist Alley Haul (Part 1) and Dealer’s Room Haul (Part 2) is also in the nitty-gritty stages of editing so I thank you all in advance for your patience.

We also hit 1500 subscribers!!! So once again, thank you all so much for watching my ramblings on Youtube, liking, commenting, subscribing and supporting. It really means the world to me and I can’t express how much you all mean to me. ❤

Where can I find you?

I’m not as enthusiastic about updating all my social media handles during the year but THE BLOG will always be updated ABOVE ALL ELSE. Plus, if you’re looking for real-time talk and news, or if you have a suggestion or question for me, the best way to reach me is on my Facebook Page or TWITTER which I check intermittently throughout the day. Also I keep a close eye on channel comments as well so feel free to shoot me a message on Youtube.

As well as everything that’s going on with my travel, I will be uploading three FanExpo Canada photography posts throughout the week as I try to keep up with all the regular reviews. If you’re looking for any of the current seasonal recaps/reviews, check out the “Latest News” tab at the very top of the blog or drop in on my channel for fun rants and other otaku-related vlogs. My Fall anime season favourites and picks will also be up as soon as I get settled in.
