The Sunshine Award!!

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share the Sunshine award with you all. I’ve been nominated by the Sky Corps on Twitter AKA (Nick) from the Anime Corps. If you guys don’t know of them check out their blog cause they are a whole team of anime enthusiasts covering so much new stuff every season!!

The Sunshine Award is “an award given to ‘bloggers who are positive and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere’”sunshine

Here are the rules…

  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Answer the questions from the person who nominated you
  • Write new ones and nominate others you feel deserve the award =D
  • Post that shiny award button on your blog!! 😉

Now, here are the six questions they’ve asked me… I decided to answer them in vlog form so they could go up on my channel and my blog.

  • How many times have you rewatched your favourite anime? How would you say the show feels after the second or third time watching it?
  • If you made your own anime, which genre would it be and why?
  • Which of the media typically associated with our interests (i.e. anime, manga, light novels, visual novels, etc.) is the best for telling an interesting story?
  • What manga or light novel would you want to have an anime adaptation?
  • Are you an avid manga or light novel reader? If so, do you prefer reading from a physical book or digitally from a tablet or computer?
  • What was it that made your all time top favorite anime so special for you? Story? Characters? The Cast? Studio? Animation? Why is it your top favourite anime?

Now… time for some new nominees… I hope this award isn’t only anime exclusive but I’ll try to keep it within the anime fandom. I’d like to nominate…

Ogiue Maniax Great insight and analyses. Your classy critiques always provide me with a refreshing interpretation to any series.

Love-colored Sky I love your enthusiasm for the games you play. Your detailed summaries and reviews really give me a good grasp of the story for games I haven’t bought or played.

Here are my questions to you guys…

  • What motivates your enthusiasm for your blog?
  • What is the biggest trend you see in current anime, manga or visual novels?
  • What character, either in a series or game, do you find yourself constantly relating back to?
  • Which anime series has the most memorable soundtrack for you?
  • If you made your own anime, which genre would it be and why?
  • What are you currently watching (anime), reading (manga or light novel) or playing (visual novel)?

Thanks for reading and once again, thank you to the Anime Corps crew for nominating me and thank you everyone who supports my blog and my channel!! <333

Cloudy Says…

Banner Third Design

Hey guys, how are you all?

Haven’t talked to you guys in a long while so it’s about due time for an update…

It’s summer for me now and despite the rainy week in my hometown, summer brings along a ton of creative inspiration. I’m still settling back into old routines and to be honest, I feel quite uprooted after a whole year in the UK. Lately I’ve felt like my blog has been stuck in a long cycle of anime reviews, season after season. It’s not that I don’t enjoy writing reviews, I love it. In fact, blogging relaxes me so much… I’m hoping that with the extra time I have in the summer, I’ll be able to create other anime related posts, whether it’s commentary on a topic that’s been circulating the online anime community, a figure photography feature, an unboxing post, or something totally new.

Aside from pursuing new and creative projects this summer, the spring anime season is just about finished. We’ve only got about one or two more weeks to go which means new summer anime features will be up very soon! It’s been a real challenge this year keeping up with my blog, my Youtube channel, my social life and my school work. To keep it simple, here’s a video to wrap it up…

Thank you for giving Little Cloud Curiosity the blog and the channel so much love this year and I hope you’ll continue to look forward to everything coming up soon 🙂

Blogging vs. Vlogging… Youtube Month 1 Mark

Hey guys, how are you all?

It’s been roughly a month since I started doing videos on Youtube. I still don’t think I”m entirely accustomed to the change but thank you very much to everyone who has been with me here and supported me in my first few Youtube videos. Today I wanted to rant a bit about the differences between blogging and vlogging and my thoughts on both mediums.

Originally I was pretty Fuko Ibukiadverse to Youtube – 1) because I totally did not want to be in front of the camera 2) because I only had a very vague idea of what video editing entailed. After a long long long process of deliberation in which the decision was thrown into a volcano, taken out, chopped into pieces and put back together with fairy glue,  I decided to try making videos.  If you guys watched my very very first video, the rendering process made the quality horrible and I had no idea what to say or what to do. For the first few videos I was totally uncomfortable looking at the camera and some close friends even pointed that out to me. The videos were intended to bring out my opinions and thoughts on certain topics within the Otaku culture because while littlecloudcuriosity offers a great space for me to voice my thoughts, I’m always caught up with the weekly episode reviews and I never get the chance to insert a lot of rants. Even when I do post rants, they are either lost in the huge pile of seasonal reviews or I never get around to even writing them because I’m trying to balance my seasonal reviews with schoolwork.

Mio LaptopBlogging and Vlogging are those similar but different kinds of things. Blogging is a more literary medium and while you can incorporate visuals are audio, it’s nothing like the immediacy of a video where someone directly talks to you. A blog post definitely takes less time to upload but a vlog is rewarding in itself because the editing process is much more tedious. The copyright standards on Youtube are a challenge in itself. Last week I got a copyright flag for some anime music I used in my first Anime North 2014 vlog which is why I ended up taking it down, re-editing and re-uploading. Doing videos in my room is easy, vlogging on the go, trying to keep a camera straight and centered on my face is hard. All in all the AN 2014 vlog was a huge learning process and a great way to wrap up the first month.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not writing this post to complain, rather, the opposite. I’m writing this to show you guys, honestly, what this process has been like to me. I don’t think I’ll ever be super professional with video-making (I really should have taken more film courses in university LOL) and I don’t expect to become a Youtube sensation over night but it actually gives me happy feels to know my videos bring me closer to all of you =’)

Looking forward…

Black Bullet Episode 9 (17)As I’ve made more and more videos, however, I actually enjoy hopping in front of a camera to talk every day. I enjoy making jokes with you guys. I love reading your comments. Yes, I do read each and every single comment I get because Youtube sends me a notification. It’s a bit easier to hop in front of a camera and just talk now (even though  I sometimes end up doing like 5 cuts for one line cause I botch it up so badly). I think I’m a pretty bad actress which is why comedy scenes don’t come up a lot in my videos and I’m a lot more eloquent with back space, copy and paste. You guys don’t know this but I cut out a lot of “um’s” in -editing process. Even I get tired of my own “um… um…” XDD

I am working out a way to keep a fair balance between what goes on here on my blog and what goes on on my channel. I don’t want my channel to take over a lot of the seasonal episode reviews even though a lot of subscribers would like to see me review anime in video mode. I have already taken a look at the summer season and with all the manga and games that are being adapted into an anime, I have at least 8 shows I need to review, almost 10 shows to watch regularly and about 12-13 shows that require First Impression reviews. I think I will split up the reviews here and on my channel. With some shows, it’s easier to rant about in person while others require some in depth analysis that only formal writing will bring out the force of my thoughts. I guess I’ll take it one step and one day at a time.

Again if you guys made it to the end of the post, you are a trooper. This post was pretty text heavy after all…

kill-la-kill-mako-eye-gogglesThank you guys very very much for following me here or on my channel. There would not even be a Youtube channel if t wasn’t for all of you guys. I have just reached 200 subscribers so thank you so much for all your support. I will continue to do my best with new content, reviews and rants. Here’s to looking forward =) Ganbarimasu!

Little Cloud Curiosity`s Nominated for THE LIEBSTER AWARD

Hey guys, this post is going to be a bit different…

Thank you thank you so much to Otaku Orbit for nominating me for the Liebster Award. I honestly didn’t think I would become so immersed into the blog world when I first started in my first year of university as a stress reliever from exams.

The Liebster award is designed to give exposure to new or smaller blogs with less than 200 followers. Here are the rules/requirements…

1) Link back to the blogger who nominated you.

2) Answer the 11 questions given to you by the blogger who nominated you.

3) Nominate 1 other bloggers with less than 200 followers

4) Go to the blogs you nominated and notify them of your nomination

5) Give your nominees 11 questions to answer

Here are the questions I was given…

1) Whats’ your favorite Anime and/or Manga series?

I think my favourite manga series has to be Pandora Hearts. When I first encountered the series, it was the story and art that pushed me out of the more kiddy-styled art and stories to more mature and darker themes. I love seeing series that rework the classic Alice in Wonderland aesthetics and ideas into new stories.

Pandora Hearts

2) What’s the most played song on your iPod?

My most played song on my iPod is “Luminous” by ClariS which was released with the Puella Magi Madoka Magica Movie. It’s so catchy and makes me feel like a magic girl when I listen to it. FLYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

3) If you could travel through time or travel through space which would you choose?

I would travel through time to meet my favourite historical figures and my own ancestors and maybe put a mustache on the Mona Lisa just to see how the art critics of the present would try and make sense of it.

4) If you could be the best athlete in any sport which sport would you choose?

Definitely figure skating. It combines both of my two childhood favourites – dance and gymnastics.

5) If you could live in any fictional universe which would it be?

I would definitely have to choose Jin Yong’s Legend of the Condor Shooting Heroes in China in the Song Dynasty and learn most kickass martial arts EVER. I grew up with all those ancient Chinese stories so they really stick with me and all the history in those stories are a part of my roots.

6) What was the hardest thing you had to learn?

The hardest thing I’ve had to learn is that as much support as everyone gives you in life, it all comes down to your hard work and personal resolve. Oliver Goldsmith once said, “Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” You’ve got to know how to build a tough skin in life and pick yourself up no matter how hard it gets.

7) What’s the best part of being a blogger? What’s the worst?

The best thing about being a blogger is getting to write what I like to write. When there are so many trends, fads or ideas that media and other societal pressures, it’s nice to know that when you put your heart into your writing, when you’re writing things for no reason other than the fact that it’s your passion, there are people genuinely interested in your thoughts and willing to listen.

The worst part of being a blogger is probably juggling the blogging life with my regular life. Especially during the school year, it’s a challenge to keep up both my grades and my blog life but the pressure also drives me to be a more organized person.

8) Do you play video games? If so which genre is your favorite?

I do play video games and I grew up playing through every generation of Nintendo – from the grey block Gameboy all the way to the newest 3DS’s. I also enjoy online MMORPG games from time to time so my favourite genre is fantasy because it allows you to experience a completely different world and live a life of magic and monsters that, though it’s sad to say, might never be possible in the world.

9) If you can transform into one animal at will which one would it be?

I feel like this is the question that gets you during interviews cause it takes you by surprise. I would really want to try being a dragon because I’ve always wanted to fly… and spitting fire sounds pretty cool too.

10) Which “weapon” would you choose? A wand from Harry Potter, A lightsaber from Star Wars, or the sonic screwdriver from Dr. Who?

I would have to choose the lightsaber from Star Wars, but I’d probably have a greater chance of amputating myself… or others, than actually figuring out how to use it. I’d put an advertisement in the paper looking for a Yoda master to teach me the ways of the Jedi *bows head*

11) Do you see yourself blogging in 3 years?

I definitely see myself blogging in three years. I initially started my blog just to showcase photography but it’s become an extension of myself now. It’s a great place to interact with other people who have similar interests or insightful views to share. I look forward to blogging everyday and even when I say that I’m going to take a few days off because of school work or some holiday, I get blogger’s separation anxiety with my site haha

Now here is my list of nominations…

… And now for my 11 questions

1) If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

2) Why did you start blogging?

3) What’s your favourite anime or manga character and why?

4) Who is your biggest inspiration in life?

5) Do you think being an introvert or extrovert is more advantageous as a blogger?

6) If you enjoy books, what’s your favourite genre?

7) What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned thus far?

8) If you were a superhero, what superhero name would you take?

9) During a zombie apocalypse, what weapon would you go for?

10) Do you prefer sweet snacks or salty ones?

11) Where do you see yourself in three years?

Here are 11 Random Facts about Myself…

1) I love collecting stuff in general, not just anime stuff but coins, stamps, Christmas ornaments, pocky, and so on…

2) I know roughly five different languages – English, French, Cantonese, Mandarin and Latin

3) I absolutely love How I Met Your Mother, I follow, watch and rewatch religiously

4) I have such a huge sweet tooth for desserts and tasty treats

5) I’m classically trained in Ballet and danced for 18 years

6) I’m really spontaneous and do things on a flash of inspiration or even a whim

7) I am intensely crazy artsy and as a result I hate handling numbers and figures

8) I love travelling, it makes me feel free

9) I’m slightly addicted to Starbucks… just slightly, I swear!

10) I have blogger’s separation anxiety when I withhold from posting for more than two days

11) I got into the anime otaku and manga life because of my dad

So this is my Liebster Award post. Special thanks to Otaku Orbit for the nomination again and to all of you readers and followers! Love you guys!
