My Anime List of 2016

Hey guys, how are you all? It’s been over a year since I made my last post. One of the reasons is because life and school has swamped me entirely. Another reason is because there are logistical issues with WordPress that … Continue reading

Hey guys, how are you all?

Haven’t talked to you guys in a long while so it’s about due time for an update…

It’s summer for me now and despite the rainy week in my hometown, summer brings along a ton of creative inspiration. I’m still settling back into old routines and to be honest, I feel quite uprooted after a whole year in the UK. Lately I’ve felt like my blog has been stuck in a long cycle of anime reviews, season after season. It’s not that I don’t enjoy writing reviews, I love it. In fact, blogging relaxes me so much… I’m hoping that with the extra time I have in the summer, I’ll be able to create other anime related posts, whether it’s commentary on a topic that’s been circulating the online anime community, a figure photography feature, an unboxing post, or something totally new.

Aside from pursuing new and creative projects this summer, the spring anime season is just about finished. We’ve only got about one or two more weeks to go which means new summer anime features will be up very soon! It’s been a real challenge this year keeping up with my blog, my Youtube channel, my social life and my school work. To keep it simple, here’s a video to wrap it up…

Thank you for giving Little Cloud Curiosity the blog and the channel so much love this year and I hope you’ll continue to look forward to everything coming up soon 🙂

Welcome to all the new followers and subscribers. If you guys are new to LittleCloudCuriousity, my name is Cloudy and this is my blog for Japanese anime, manga and pop culture ^^/ Thank you very much for clicking in today.

Many Youtubers and bloggers have been giving their thoughts and opinions on 2014, the best anime, the worst and their general favourites. So I thought I’d take a look back at ALL the anime we saw as well and give you guys a quick list on what I really loved from each season.

As of today, the Winter Anime Season for 2015 has officially begun. Though official anime sites don’t have pilot episodes up for streaming yet, we can expect exciting things this upcoming month. If you guys are looking to check out some of my picks, click the link here.

You may or may not remember but this year I started a Youtube channel >.< and to be honest, it was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. After a shaky start, I’ve started to settle into the ways of the Youtube world and I’m really glad you guys enjoy my videos. We’ve recently hit 2000 subscribers so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I know I don’t reply to every comment on the channel or other social media but I do read every single comment, I just can’t reply to all of them because life just happens sometimes >.< but thank you for commenting nonetheless, giving your input and suggestions really help me figure out what videos to do.

Speaking of the channel, the most recent series features my little adventures in Hong Kong with family and friends this holiday season. If you are interested in watching or may have missed one, you can check them out in the playlist here. There should be six videos in total, the last one featuring my trip to Disneyland in Hong Kong (which will be uploaded soon).

There will definitely be first impressions for as many first episodes I can get my hands on. As well, a poll will go up for you guys to give your vote on what reviews you’d like to see this season. For now, please check out the poll below and vote on what types of videos you guys want to see more of in 2015. Your opinion really matters to me so if you have time and you enjoy my content, please take the time to offer a few clicks.

Two more hauls will be coming on the channel. One vlog will focus on a Girl’s Haul with merchandise for otome, Free, UtaPri and shoujo fans. Another vlog will focus on another fun fandom of mine. As well, I am trying really hard to schedule in time to film some rants for you guys cause there’s really A LOT going on in the anime world every day, all the time.

I have recently been inspired to do street photography again. I went on a photography crawl with a close friend in Hong Kong the other day so when those photos are processed and edited, they will go up on the blog.

I will be returning to the UK this week and settling into an exam schedule routine when I get back. Videos are coming as soon as I can, as quick as I can film and edit them. Blog posts come as soon as episodes are released. What excites me about getting back to the UK is the Out of the Box that’s coming from a pre-ordered package from Japan so if you guys are curious about that don’t forget to subscribe and stay tuned for more ^^

Always I like to remind you guys that the blog is always most updated above all else, though Twitter comes a close second. The channel runs on its own rhythm though it often cross-references with blog recaps and reviews for popular series. You guys can also check out Tumblr for other fun posts or Facebook for regularly updated posts.

Once again, thank you so much for reading, commenting and dropping into my blog and my channel. I will continue doing my best in the upcoming year to link you guys with the coolest reviews, recaps, merchandise features.

Blogging vs. Vlogging… Youtube Month 1 Mark

Hey guys, how are you all?

It’s been roughly a month since I started doing videos on Youtube. I still don’t think I”m entirely accustomed to the change but thank you very much to everyone who has been with me here and supported me in my first few Youtube videos. Today I wanted to rant a bit about the differences between blogging and vlogging and my thoughts on both mediums.

Originally I was pretty Fuko Ibukiadverse to Youtube – 1) because I totally did not want to be in front of the camera 2) because I only had a very vague idea of what video editing entailed. After a long long long process of deliberation in which the decision was thrown into a volcano, taken out, chopped into pieces and put back together with fairy glue,  I decided to try making videos.  If you guys watched my very very first video, the rendering process made the quality horrible and I had no idea what to say or what to do. For the first few videos I was totally uncomfortable looking at the camera and some close friends even pointed that out to me. The videos were intended to bring out my opinions and thoughts on certain topics within the Otaku culture because while littlecloudcuriosity offers a great space for me to voice my thoughts, I’m always caught up with the weekly episode reviews and I never get the chance to insert a lot of rants. Even when I do post rants, they are either lost in the huge pile of seasonal reviews or I never get around to even writing them because I’m trying to balance my seasonal reviews with schoolwork.

Mio LaptopBlogging and Vlogging are those similar but different kinds of things. Blogging is a more literary medium and while you can incorporate visuals are audio, it’s nothing like the immediacy of a video where someone directly talks to you. A blog post definitely takes less time to upload but a vlog is rewarding in itself because the editing process is much more tedious. The copyright standards on Youtube are a challenge in itself. Last week I got a copyright flag for some anime music I used in my first Anime North 2014 vlog which is why I ended up taking it down, re-editing and re-uploading. Doing videos in my room is easy, vlogging on the go, trying to keep a camera straight and centered on my face is hard. All in all the AN 2014 vlog was a huge learning process and a great way to wrap up the first month.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not writing this post to complain, rather, the opposite. I’m writing this to show you guys, honestly, what this process has been like to me. I don’t think I’ll ever be super professional with video-making (I really should have taken more film courses in university LOL) and I don’t expect to become a Youtube sensation over night but it actually gives me happy feels to know my videos bring me closer to all of you =’)

Looking forward…

Black Bullet Episode 9 (17)As I’ve made more and more videos, however, I actually enjoy hopping in front of a camera to talk every day. I enjoy making jokes with you guys. I love reading your comments. Yes, I do read each and every single comment I get because Youtube sends me a notification. It’s a bit easier to hop in front of a camera and just talk now (even though  I sometimes end up doing like 5 cuts for one line cause I botch it up so badly). I think I’m a pretty bad actress which is why comedy scenes don’t come up a lot in my videos and I’m a lot more eloquent with back space, copy and paste. You guys don’t know this but I cut out a lot of “um’s” in -editing process. Even I get tired of my own “um… um…” XDD

I am working out a way to keep a fair balance between what goes on here on my blog and what goes on on my channel. I don’t want my channel to take over a lot of the seasonal episode reviews even though a lot of subscribers would like to see me review anime in video mode. I have already taken a look at the summer season and with all the manga and games that are being adapted into an anime, I have at least 8 shows I need to review, almost 10 shows to watch regularly and about 12-13 shows that require First Impression reviews. I think I will split up the reviews here and on my channel. With some shows, it’s easier to rant about in person while others require some in depth analysis that only formal writing will bring out the force of my thoughts. I guess I’ll take it one step and one day at a time.

Again if you guys made it to the end of the post, you are a trooper. This post was pretty text heavy after all…

kill-la-kill-mako-eye-gogglesThank you guys very very much for following me here or on my channel. There would not even be a Youtube channel if t wasn’t for all of you guys. I have just reached 200 subscribers so thank you so much for all your support. I will continue to do my best with new content, reviews and rants. Here’s to looking forward =) Ganbarimasu!

Cloudy Says…

Hey guys, how are you all?

Last time I spoke with you guys was on a poll for the spring anime lineup this season. In today’s Cloudy Says I wanted to finalize a list of everything I will be following this spring.

For This Season… Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, No Game No Life, Kamigami no Asobi, Black Bullet

From Last Season… Nisekoi and Nobunaga the Fool

The poll really helped me narrow down the shows I wanted to follow week by week so a thank you goes out to all of your who voted. I decided to take it easy with the spring season shows because I have officially started making videos on Youtube where I will be doing vlogging, ranting and hauls in addition to the reviews that mainly features. I’m still really new to making videos and being online in such a visual way so thank you for being patient and supportive. I’m going to give it my all with the videos! You guys can keep up with me directly here or at Twitter or on Pinterest or on Facebook.

Just Kidding Films in Toronto 2014

Hi guys, earlier tonight I got to meet three of my favourite Youtubers from Just Kidding Films. Bart Kwan, Joverdose and Geo Antoinette visited the University of Toronto and held a meet and greet with a bunch of their Canadian fans. The event was brought to us by MTM Productions and three videos were shown. The first being “Crazy Asian Parent,” one of the much older but really hilarious shorts from two years back. The second was the first part to “Gun Fu” that was previously promoted in a teaser trailer and the third was a sneak peek of this Sunday’s new video, “Secrets.”

I always love meeting Youtubers because unlike many celebrities, they’re actually reachable and relatable people who are pretty friendly and down to earth. Plus, they vlog so most of their lives are already on the internet for everyone to see. Although the gathering was of a relatively good number, there wasn’t as much as hype as there is with Youtube musicians who hold an entire concert. Still, the Q & A session was probably my favourite part of the Live. Of course, there the meet and greet was a highlight as well…

I actually bumped into Geo while I was in the bathroom and had a Youtube Star-struck moment haha but she was super nice about meeting me 🙂 and I just realized that I look super tiny next to Bart LOL

Homemade Strawberry Yogurt Mask

strawHey guys! I don’t usually treat myself to a beauty time because I’m so busy on a daily basis but now that the school year’s over and I’m at home, I have tons of time to experiment and try different do-it-yourself facial scrubs, beauty masks, hair masks, etc. This strawberry yogurt mask is TO DIE FOR! It is absolutely amazing. I’ve done quite a few different masks in the last two weeks and I think that this little recipe is the best so far.

(This is a great mask to have one while you’re watching anime or your favourite TV series!)

If you’re just interested in reading about the recipe, feel free to skip down to the rating!

I spend a lot of time on Youtube and I subscribe to a variety of different channels from music to comedy to drama and of course, beauty gurus. Every Youtube-obsessed girl has her favourite beauty guru. My favourite beauty guru has to be Bubzbeauty. Her real name is Lindy Tsang and she is of Northern Irish-Chinese ethnicity. What I love about her channel is that she not only talks about outer beauty with makeup, hair and nail tutorials, but constantly posts Girl Talk videos about inner beauty, body image happiness and self-confidence.

g02She just launched her new line of Bubbi makeup brushes and I’m definitely going to be placing an order soon for my very own set. I started subscribing to her when she first started uploading videos. She’s open-minded, down to earth and so very inspiring. Have a look at her website!

Rating: 5/5 happy clouds 5 Clouds Transparent

Some of my favourite videos are the DIY face masks or craft ideas. The strawberry yogurt mask is one of her older videos but the recipe is GOLDEN. My face looks brighter, clearer, smoother and feels great. I ended making an entire bowl of the mask so I turned it into a body scrub and it also felt AWESOME! (However, don’t try this mask if you’re allergic to any of the ingredients)

yogurtWhat you’ll need…

– 4-5 small strawberries

– 2 spoonfuls of Bio-Yogurt

-1 Teaspoon of Olive Oil (I used Grape seed oil because I didn’t have Olive Oil)

– 2 Teaspoons of Honey

– 2 Spoonfuls of Oatmeal

– A bowl and spoons

– A brush to apply the mask

“Willing to try. Willing to learn. Making life bubbi-ful.”

I hope you guys enjoyed this quick little rant. Try this out for yourself and marvel at the amazing results! Good luck!

Song Spotlight – Bring Me the Night

Sam-Tsui-Make-It-Up-2013-1200x1200Hey guys! I’ve got a Song Spotlight for you all today. The song is called “Bring me the Night” and it is sung by Sam Tsui, featuring Kina Grannis. Both artists come from Youtube and the song is featured on Sam Tsui’s debut album “Make it Up” that fans have been anticipating for months now. There are some great hits and very unique compositions in the album, but this is the one song that I have had on repeat for the past week.

Rating: 4.5/5 happy clouds45 Clouds Transparent

kinagrannis_photo_gal_5273_photo_100795686_lrThe poetic lyrics can be primarily interpreted as the feelings of missing a romantic other but also reminds me of friends, families or just people that matter to you in your life. The melody and the sounds are dreamy and romantic evoking nostalgia and almost a sweet longing for relief that only the night brings. It’s nice to see Sam and Kina, both whom are among the stronger singers of Youtube artists, sing this together. They voices mix perfectly. Kina was a great choice as the other half of the song.

“So bring me the night, send out the stars

Cause when I’m dreaming we don’t seem so far

Darken the sky, and light up the moon

So that somehow you’ll be here with me soon

Bring me the night

Bring me the night

That brings me to you”

There’s a lot of talent on Youtube that doesn’t seem to get enough credit from mainstream audience. Recently, a music video for the title song of the album has been released (produced by KurtHugoSchneider) as well as the lyric video for the fifth track of the album, Me Without You.

I really hope they create a music video for this song. It’s one of the most beautiful duets I’ve heard in a while.

For more of Sam Tsui, check out his channel! .

For more of Kina Grannis, check out her channel!

Grab Sam’s new album her!

Hope you guys liked this Single Spotlight. Like or follow for more to come every day!

Clara C “Wanting What I Need” Music Video Review

Hello everyone! It’s time for another music video review! I didn’t plan to review another one of Clara C’s songs so soon, but this one really jumped out at me. Wanting What I Need is another single on Clara’s recent album Esc. This song didn’t particularly jump out at me when I first listened to the album back in October due to its position towards the end of the playlist but the lyric video released in April reminded me of what I’d missed.

The lyrics are artistically profound. It’s not a sappy love song nor is it a mindless fist pump party tune. Wanting What I Need asks us to re-examine our own lives, how society has perhaps become cold and unfeeling, leading us to waste away our precious time pursuing things that really don’t matter.

“At times I do forget, where the thankfulness is due…|

The melodic la, la, la’s arranged into the song can come out as an uncreative substitute for lyrics however, in this song, it reminds us of the carefree spirit of the lyrics. The lyric video also reflects the overall mood of the song. As Clara walks through down the streets, lyrics flash on walls and building. Her journey through the city can symbolize our every-day paths and choices. Life goes on, despite your desires for things you don’t need. What’s really important is to stop and reflect on all the important aspects of your life such as family and friendship.

“This time I’m gonna break out and be free,

stop needin’ what I want and start wanting what I need

With a god and my friends and family,

they’re filling up my soul, this is how it, ought to be…”

Released just yesterday, I found myself in love with this music video. Featuring Clara’s friends and bandmembers  as well as a variety of youtubers as well as such Julie Zhan (shutupanddance), David So (Davidsocomedy), and other dancers like Can Nguyen (Poreotics), Mike Song and Yuri Tag. This video is all about enjoying life for what it is, simple and playful.

I hope you guys enjoy this music video as much as I did! Comment below on what you think!

Clara C “You’ve Got it All” Music Video Review

This month I am loving Clara C’s new music video featuring a song on her album Esc, “You’ve Got it All”. The bouncy beats of Esc that marks a new signature style in Clara’s music. I love the groovy guitar in the intro to this song. “You’ve Got it All” has an artsy and fun feel to it with TONS of colourful balloons. Jimmy Wong plays Clara’s main guy. They’re just so adorable together. My favourite part of the video has to be the bridge of the song when Clara realizes she must be falling for him. Of course, getting to see Clara jamming on the guitar with her band is always a treat. She just has such a relaxed and confident presence on stage and in music videos. “You’ve Got it All” isn’t one of your typical love songs which is one of the best things about it.

“We are love embodied
Turning old things pristine
From now on all I need
Is me and you, you and me…”

The coolest thing about Clara is that she came from Youtube!  I actually got to meet her on her Kickstarter Tour with David Choi (who is I also love). She is so energetic and down-to-earth. She has to be my favourite female songstress on Youtube. Check her out here:

If you guys enjoyed this review, feel free to like and follow for more stuff to come! =)
